What does the job involve?

The Metrology Technician performs duties to ensure the control, calibration and maintenance of all measurements and test equipment.

What will my responsibilities include?

  • Gather, clean, calibrate, maintain, and return company and personal gages to assigned locations.
  • Perform basic repairs on gages.
  • Maintain inventory, calibration, history and repair records.
  • Assist in shipping and receiving of old and new gages from purchase, repair and outside calibration services.

What key skills and experience do I need?

  • Familiarity and ability to use measuring devices properly and interpret readings. Including but not limited to micrometers, calipers, indicators and optical comparators.
  • Ability to read blueprints and instruction manuals for gage calibration, use and repair.
  • Must understand and correctly interpret Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Strong background in fractions, decimals, English/metric conversions and geometric dimension tolerances.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of technical information and data furnished in written, oral diagram, or schedule form.
  • Certified Mechanical Inspector (CMI) or Certified Quality Technician (CQT) is desirable.
  • Knowledge of basic mechanical and electronic concepts.

What qualifications should I have?

  • HS diploma or equivalent (associate degree in Metrology or related field desired).
  • Minimum of one year metrology or related experience.

Benefits are effective the first of the month after your date of hire. You will earn 10 vacation days (80 hours) annually.  Your vacation will be prorated and accrue 1.54 hours per week.
