 What does the job involve?

Set up, operate, and tend machine that bends metal structural shapes, such as bars, strips and rods to specified contour. May assist in other processes of ring fabrication.

 What will my responsibilities include?

  • Set up, operate, and tend in the operation of machine that heats and bends metal structural shapes, such as bars, strips, and rods to a specified contour.
  • Adjust and calculate machine set up from written work instructions to account for material thickness, bend radius, and correct circumference.
  • Examine, inspect and measure materials and finished products to verify conformance with written specifications.
  • Monitor machine operation and temperature to detect malfunctions and ensure product conforms to written specifications.
  • Feed metal material through rolling mechanisms or start, control, and monitor feeding mechanism.
  • Monitor and manipulate controls to adjust and regulate machine and speed mechanism.
  • May be able to provide guidance to co-workers on set up, operation, and general use of machine, including changing rolls.
  • Utilize all personal protective equipment and ensure all machine safety equipment is in use prior to machine operation.
  • May perform three or more operations involving ring fabrication; including but not limited to, rounding, grinding, forming, heat treating, expanding, and/or flash welding.
  • Demonstrate ability to appear for work on time, work overtime when necessary, follow directions from a supervisor, interact well with co-workers, understand and follow work rules and procedures, work safely, comply with corporate policies, goals, and objectives, accept constructive feedback, establish goals and objectives and exhibit initiative and commitment.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

What key skills and experience do I need?

Knowledge of machines and tools. Ability to monitor and control machine operation. Ability to move, install, position and handle materials. Ability to quickly move hand(s) together with arm to grasp, manipulate or assemble objects.

What qualifications should I have?

Education: High school diploma/GED preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience. Vocational training a plus.

 Experience: Three (3) plus years similar work experience.
