What does the job involve?

Summary: Operates light to medium punch presses to perform a variety of operations involving single trip operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Under general supervision, must exercise knowledge to perform a variety of job duties relating to the operation of blanking and trimming to yield parts, including but not limited to:

  • Assists skilled operators in the set-up and operation of all types of punch presses by performing manual duties as directed.
  • Requires care in nesting parts or feeding stock to prevent damage to tool.
  • All set-ups are to be made by previously established method and under close supervision.
  • Performs typical operations such as pre-forming, final forming and stake nozzles.
  • Checks parts to blueprints specifications, templates and jigs.
  • Must be able to troubleshoot and make minor adjustment to machine when necessary.
  • Performs rework, repair and other associated operations relating to the work described.
  • Follow all Senior policies and procedure.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience:

  • High School Degree or General Education Degree; or 2-5 years related experience and/ or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Required Skills:

  • Language: Ability to interpret work order/ traveler work instructions, able to establish a good communication channel with peers, also knows how to read assembly blue prints.
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply a general understanding to carry out detailed, written and oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Tools used:

  • Hand tools, impact gun and various gauges.
