What does the job involve?

Evaluates develops, and improves manufacturing methods, systems and processes.  Provides guidance in manufacturing-related engineering tasks, work with machine processes, and tooling design.  May conduct basic and applied research to evaluate adaptability of materials and equipment to aerospace manufacturing.

What will my responsibilities include?

  • Supports manufacturing operations directly by assisting in improving efficiency, developing repeatable processes, supporting implementation of new equipment and methods, and making planning changes as required.
  • Utilizes manufacturing expertise to provide value engineering suggestions to Estimating, Design, and Process Engineering, while developing and executing process improvement plans for quality, cost, and workflow.
  • Assist Cell Leaders with capital expenditure plans, elimination of process variation, and development of standard work instructions.
  • Involved integrally in the transition of new product start-ups from initial release to sustaining production.
  • Works closely with shop personnel to resolve production problems and implement best methods.
  • Provides input to new business start-up and Estimating for the best process methods and tools.
  • Supports the development of writing setup cards and other documentation to make processes more efficient and eliminate variability between operators.
  • Analyze statistical data and product specifications to determine standards and reliability objectives of finished product.
  • Proof checks his/her own work and the work of others at this level and below as required.

What key skills and experience do I need?

Knowledge of practical manufacturing processes including titanium machining, nickel bases, and alloys.  Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in the production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.  Knowledge of GD&T essential.  Knowledge of design software (NX, Solidworks, CATIA) preferred. Machining and assembly background preferred.

What qualifications should I have?

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent experience from an accredited college preferred.

Experience: 3-5 years (Manufacturing exp. strongly preferred)
