What does the job involve?

Summary: This occupation requires the ability to prep materials/parts prior and post x-ray. Processing set ups and operating digital radiographic equipment. Assisting Level II and Level III as needed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Under general supervision, must be able to perform a variety of job duties including, but not limited to:

  • Comply with approved nondestructive testing procedures, quality procedures, and work instructions.
  • Have the skills and knowledge to process parts, document results and perform equipment standardization in accordance with approved work instructions.
  • Have the skills and knowledge to carry out any necessary preparation of parts before and after inspection in accordance to work instructions.
  • Have the skills and knowledge to conduct system performance checks and preventative maintenance in accordance with the applicable process standards.
  • Receive guidance or supervision from a certified Level II or Level III in that method when necessary.
  • Ability to cross-train, cooperate and work effectively with others.
  • Ability to verify traceability of parts, log books, and shop travelers.
  • Follow all Senior policies and procedure.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience:

  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree; and 6 months to 1 year of related experience and/ or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Required Skills:

  • Language: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply a general understanding to carry out detailed, written and oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Mathematical Ability: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to use shop mathematics.
  • Other Abilities: Must be able to read and interpret blueprints.  Must understand the use of check templates.

Materials used:

  • Various types of metals, Ferrous and non-ferrous metals and their alloys in form of raw stock and replacement parts.

Qualifications:

  • Must meet the qualification requirements and mandated tests requirements for certification in digital radiographic inspection methods in lieu of the requirements set forth in National Aerospace Standard 410 (NAS 410). Passage of near vision requirements of 20/25 (Snellen) at 16” or Jaeger 1 at no less than 12” and color perception. Must be acquainted with major components of a digital x-ray machine and their functions. Must be able to read blueprints.
