Lean Coordinator

This position is located at our Jet Products facility in San Diego, CA. 

 Summary: Assists with the implementation of Lean Manufacturing goals and strategies for improving the operations and processes within the organization. Evaluates all continuous improvement activities and implements plans to optimize performance and processes. Lean Manufacturing Specialist employs Lean methodologies and tools in order to accomplish business objectives.

 Essential functions:

  1. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department.
  2. Gains exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function. Occasionally directed in several aspects of the work.
  3. Revise and update quality system documentation as necessary to meet the requirements of quality standards or changing processes.
  4. Coach and/or lead improvement teams.
  5. Develop training programs, as needed to introduce improvement methods.
  6. Train employees in improvement methodologies including quality tools, ISO, and lean concepts. Assist in projects and train in the implementation of safety, lean and quality concepts with a goal to improve plant processes and use of improvement methods.
  7. Share best practices. Assist on the development of strategic deployment projects and monitor progress.
  8. Conduct audits in all areas of safety, quality and lean.
  9. Assist with customer needs: surveys, onsite audits and quality related issues.
  10. Track financial impact of improvements.
  11. All other duties and task as assigned.

Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience: At least 2-4 years’ experience in a manufacturing facility, aerospace or automotive manufacturing preferred.

Skills and Abilities:  Strong verbal and written communication skills and must be detail oriented.  Ability to analyze work processes, multi-task, prioritize workload, act as a change agent and work in a team environment.  Candidate must have integrity and initiative.

Working conditions:  Manufacturing environment may be exposed to high noise levels, dust and grime.  Must wear appropriate personal protective equipment.
