Director of Human Resources - SoCal                                                                                                                                             

Job Description

The Director of Human Resources is accountable for the overall management of the Human Resources and Payroll functions, including Workforce Planning and Talent Management, Employee Relations, Compensation and Payroll. This position reports directly to the Chief Executive and is a member of the Executive staff.

Primary Objectives:

  • Implement corporate and local policies for the SoCal sites (Kearney Mesa and El Cajon)
  • Develop and drive company-wide programs (e.g. workforce planning, compensation reviews, and change initiatives)
  • Administer talent management and succession planning activities
  • Facilitate organization and leadership development efforts
  • Partner with managers and employees to address root causes of human resources issues and create innovative solutions
  • Conduct employee investigations and resolve employee relation issues

Key Initiatives:

  • Document SOPs for HR operational activities (e.g. On/Off Boarding, HRIS maintenance, and LOAs)
  • Advise Executive Staff and management on diversity, equity, inclusion and affirmative action matters
  • Create and implement a Leadership Development Roadmap
  • Standardize and streamline reporting requirements for Finance and Corporate information requests
  • Establish a schedule of activities with assigned owners, participants and due dates
  • Define and communicate HR procedures for the newly implemented T&A and HRIS
  • Build key relationships throughout the company
  • Grow and develop HR and Payroll team members
  • Develop operational and technical apprenticeship program

Routine Responsibilities:

  • Counsel Executive Staff on human resources issues
  • Address manager and employee concerns and questions
  • Implement creative ways to increase morale, improve workplace relationships, and boost productivity
  • Update and publish policies in compliance with local, state and federal law
  • Review and manage WC claims
  • Track LOAs and maintain appropriate documentation
  • Provide headcount/payroll reports as needed

Qualifications / Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business or related discipline, SPHR, SHRM-SCP preferred
  • Minimum 7 years of progressive experience in an HR Business Partner role
  • Experience within a manufacturing operations/aerospace industry preferred
  • Experience with ADP Enterprise and Kronos a plus
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and collaboration skills
  • Self-motivated and self-directed
