JOB SUMMARY:         

Set up and operate most of the machine tool equipment such as lathes, millers and grinders to perform working involving routine set-ups and tolerances that are more easily maintained.

 

JOB FUNCTIONS:

Essential Elements:

 

  1. Achieve and maintain appropriate Operator Authorization(s) as required.
  2. Work from complex drawings, sketches, samples, and other written instructions from supervisor and/or engineering personnel.
  3. Plan work in proper operational sequence using any machine tools as required. Lay out parts as necessary. Make difficult set-ups on all machines as required.
  4. Work to close tolerances and critical inter-related dimensions involving determination of methods of holding and machining unusual work. Work may involve hand-finishing, lapping, and polishing.
  5. Set speeds and feeds required to produce parts and tools from a wide variety of metals and materials.
  6. Devise and make temporary tooling or modify existing tooling to accommodate individual job requirements.  
  7. Inspect complex parts using a wide variety of measuring devices and equipment applying geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.  

 

 

Secondary Elements:                                                                                    

  1. Perform other related duties as assigned or as required.
  2. Maintain necessary records. Detect and report operation of faulty equipment and unusual conditions to team leader.   Maintain work area and equipment in clean, safe and orderly working condition. Follow safety rules and regulations and wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  3. Work effectively with others and actively participate in continuous business improvement activities.
  4. nsure compliance with all Quality and HSE requirements and training.
