Position Summary:

The Manager of Quality Assurance will support the company's quality and regulatory systems in compliance with the aerospace industry best practices. This is a leadership role within the organization that is accountable for implementing and maintaining corporate and departmental procedures. This position will additionally serve as an integral member representing quality on cross functional teams.

 

Essential Responsibilities:

Essential Duties in Order of Priority

1.        

Manage all aspects of the Quality Management System (QMS) activities and product quality

2.        

Supports and leads cross functional groups on the Material Review Board (MRB) process and provides guidance in underlying cause and corrective action for non-conformances.  Follows up to ensure that such activities are completed and effective.

3.        

Overall responsibility of the corrective action process and ensures the effectiveness of corrections actions taken. Works with internal groups to develop accurate and effective corrections, root cause analysis and corrective actions

4.        

To ensure that the organization maintains a customer focus, responds to and follows up on customer complaints and quality issues

5.        

Establish and lead a comprehensive Internal Audit program to cover International Standards AS9100 and NADCAP and, customer and regulatory agency requirements

6.        

Works with Director and Sr. Manager of Quality to develop, implement, communicate and enforce Quality policies and procedures.

7.        

Provides uniform direction and guidance to the organization, refine outdated processes, develop individuals and teams capable of meeting and exceeding all goals, act as a role model to all team members.

8.        

Oversees the development of product data for final customer acceptance, Source Inspection, and first article inspection (FAI).

9.        

Works closely with administrative (Management Staff, Estimating, Engineering/Planning, Purchasing) and Production/Quality groups in support of Continuous Improvement projects

Provides meaningful performance feedback to his/her direct reports including annual personnel reviews. Works with each direct report to set and achieve annual goals

Qualifications: (minimum required to perform and be successful in this position)

  • Education:

Bachelor's or Associate of Arts/Sciences degree or equivalent experience within the aerospace manufacturing industry

 

  • Experience:

5 years' of diversified and progressively responsible experience in quality control of aerospace products

2 years’ experience managing a team of 2-10 quality team members

 

  • Experience/knowledge of equipment, machines, tools, etc:

Complete blue print knowledge

3D modeling experience

5 axes laser vision working knowledge

Process and procedure writing

AS9102 and Fabrication planning hands-on working detail knowledge

QA Auditing

 

  • Communication and Language skills:

Requires the ability to communicate and interact effectively with employees at all levels of the organization, both verbally and written.

Requires ability to communicate both technical and non-technical staff including customers and suppliers

Ability to lead meetings and present to groups of 10-25 people

 

  • Mathematical skills:

Intermediate mathematics skills, including basic algebra

 

  • Computer Skills:

Requires proficiency working knowledge of MS Excel; position requires ability to produce analytic reports in Excel

 

  • Reasoning ability:

Ability to observe a situation and use the facts to form a resolution or conclusion

 

  • Certificates or Licenses:

None required

Strong Leadership and teamwork skills to build positive relationship with QA team

Supervision Received:

Ability to work independently. Has the authority to make decisions related to regular tasks and actions without consulting manager.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Incumbent supervises a team and is responsible for managing the team to ensure that work is properly allocated and completed in a timely and accurate manner. Has the authority to make employment decisions within company and legal guidelines.  Incumbent provides recommendation to management for hiring, transferring, promoting, or terminating employment of direct reports.

 

Discretion and independent Judgement:  

This position is responsible for supporting the company's quality and regulatory systems in compliance within the aerospace industry best practices

 

Interaction with others (internally and externally):

Incumbent interacts internally with peer managers, senior managers and direct reports on a daily basis. External interactions – customers and suppliers

 

Resource Responsibilities:

Responsible for maintaining costs within the department budget
