JOB SUMMARY: Under general direction, perform a wide variety of dimensional and functional inspection and test procedures on tools, dies, and fixtures, received material and parts, in-process components and final assemblies, to ensure compliance with quality requirements.
JOB FUNCTION:
Essential Elements:
- Achieve and maintain appropriate Operator Authorization(s) as required.
- Work from engineering documentation including drawings to determine the appropriate method and equipment necessary to perform inspection.
- Interpret customer and internal engineering drawings as well as other company specifications and quality requirements to determine if material, components, and product comply.
- Develop special precision inspection set-up operations that accurately and precisely verify requirements.
- Interpret ANSI 14.5 geometric dimensioning and tolerancing requirements to determine measure and verify conformance.
- Work collaboratively with engineering personnel to develop techniques and procedures to accurately and precisely verify compliance for new components.
- Perform first piece and/or first article inspection for all levels of components/products in accordance with AS9102.
- Assist in the determination of root cause to support continuous improvement of our processes and product.
- Perform calibration of measuring devices and complicated precision gauges.
- Use a wide variety of test and inspection instruments/equipment including micrometers, indicators, pressure gauges, hand tools, optical comparators, vernier, and weights.
- Operate and understand the analysis of dimensional requirements utilizing a CMM.
Secondary Elements:
- Perform other related duties as assigned or as required.
- Maintain necessary records. Detect and report operation of faulty equipment and unusual conditions to team leader. Maintain work area and equipment in clean, safe and orderly working condition. Follow safety rules and regulations and wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Work effectively with others and actively participate in continuous business improvement activities.
- Ensure compliance with all Quality and Environmental Health & Safety procedures. Attend EH&S training relative to functional duties.
High School Diploma, 3-5 years experience.
