JOB SUMMARY

The Manufacturing Project Engineer leads all aspects of projects for the Land Vehicles business unit via effective project planning techniques using APQP principles and strong internal and external communication skills. This role provides a key link between the Business Unit and Operations as they manage the project from inception to completion. The Manufacturing Project Engineer oversees the overall manufacturing of products based on customer and engineering inputs. In this role, the Manufacturing Project Engineer develops and implements optimal, cost-effective manufacturing processes and improvements that comply with product specifications and quality controls. The Manufacturing Engineer supports the Business Unit and Business Development teams in the development of new products for customers.

KEY RESULTS AREAS

Advanced Product Quality Planning Compliance

  • Use the APQP on all aspects of project management to efficiently lead projects from inception to completion
  • Demonstrate the ability to identify project requirements, divide projects into manageable tasks and deliverables while mitigating risks and obstacles
  • Possess the ability to lead without authority

Functional Excellence

  • Provide a layer of review to ensure all Project Management APQP tasks meet the highest level of excellence and meet the customer's expectations 
  • Work directly with customers as needed
  • Assist and supplement project work as needed
  • Support the product development group in their technology research and analysis

Manufacturing Support & Process Development

  • Review internal and external designs for manufacturability
  • Develop and implement cost-effective manufacturing processes and methods that align with project deliverables
  • Provide engineering, quality, and project support in the areas manufacturing process of welding, brazing, machining, fabrication, forming, and assembly

Capital & Tooling Procurement

  • Directly liaison with the Materials and Purchasing teams to develop effective procurement and sourcing plans to ensure alignment with project deliverables and objectives
  • Develop & implement cost reduction projects
  • Create RFQ's and perform quote analysis per Senior’s sourcing policy
  • Assist in supplier the evaluation process to ensure suppliers comply with Senior’s sourcing policy

Continuous Improvement

  • Use Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement concepts to identify opportunities to improve current processes, protocols, and procedures leading to process improvements, cost avoidance, and/or cost savings

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor's degree in an Engineering related field (Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial) 
  • APQP or Project Management certification a plus

 EXPERIENCE

  • 7 to 10 plus years experience in Project Management in a fast-paced manufacturing setting
  • Experience in automotive, aerospace, medical, and/or metal fabrication preferred 
  • Familiar with Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement concepts
  • Sales engineering  or product development support experience highly preferred
  • ERP and MRP experience, Infor Syteline highly preferred
  • PMP and/or APQP Certification is a plus
