JOB SUMMARY
The Applications Engineer is responsible for designing for manufacturing excellence at the proof of concept stage and prototype design cycles.
KEY RESULTS AREAS
Functional Excellence
- Develop and execute analysis activities related to Senior's products to include generating DFMEA's, creating DVP&R's, and managing the execution of the plan via the APQP process
- Ensure products meet customer specifications for 'fit, form, and function
Business & Customer Support
- Participate in APQP teams with direct involvement in the conceptual and prototype phases (Phase 1 & Phase 2)
- Work closely with customer, sales, and business unit teams
Documentation
- Generate analysis reports for project teams
- Write and maintain engineering specifications and work instructions
- Process travelers, process flow, and QCP, and any other construction methods used during POC and prototype builds
New Product Development Liaison
- Transfer newly introduced products from the NPD to the applications team with the specific focus on design for new construction methods (e.g. Radial Fin EGR Coolers)
EDUCATION
- Bachelor's degree in an Engineering related field (Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial)
EXPERIENCE
- 2 to 3 years experience in a fast-paced manufacturing setting
- Experience in automotive, aerospace, medical, and/or metal fabrication preferred
- Familiar with Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement concepts
- Sales engineering or product development support experience highly preferred
- Infor Syteline highly preferred
- PMP and/or APQP Certification is a plus
