Who is SSP?

Senior Aerospace SSP, specializes in designing, manufacturing, and qualifying complex ducting systems for aerospace applications. Since its humble roots in 1945, the campus has now expanded to include a 59,000 sq. ft high-volume production facility, in addition to its legacy 131,000 ft2 main buildings which combined, accommodate over 500 employees. Vertically integrated with its own foundry, fabrication shop, and ISO certified engineering lab, Senior Aerospace SSP acquired by Senior PLC in 1995 and has continued its expansion into new programs and technologies. 

What does the job involve?

Summary: The EHS Specialist will work closely with management in directing occupational health and safety programs at the plant level while ensuring compliance with Federal, State, and local regulations and standards. Must be able to provide support to departments to take a proactive approach to ensure compliance. As a team member there will be an equal level of accountability, along with the management team, in promoting and accomplishing the health and safety initiatives at the plant level.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Under general supervision, must be able to perform a variety of job duties including, but not limited to:
• Develop and maintain accurate and compliant programs and procedures in EH&S
• Coordinate audits and inspections of implemented programs within designated time frames, including but not limited to safety PPE/equipment inspection and tracking, emergency planning, exposure monitoring activities and chemical inventory
• Calculate and track monthly Safety Statistics for the company and external providers (e.g. Cal-OSHA)
• Management of Incident Tracker with appropriate corrective actions and timely resolutions
• Coordinate compliance with the Management of Change Program with inter-department teams
• Company liaison for external vendors, suppliers, and agencies
• Coordinate EHS related training and safety related purchases
• Follow all Senior policies and procedures
• Other duties as assigned

Education and/or Experience:
• Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Science, Technical or related field required; and 2- 5 years of related experience and/ or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Required Skills:
• Language: Ability to read and comprehend complex instructions, correspondence, regulations, and memos. Ability to communicate (verbally and written) effectively with all levels of employees within the company, corporate level employees (internal and external), vendors, suppliers, and customer. Bilingual preferably Spanish/English.
• Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
• Mathematical Ability: Ability to use and apply advance mathematical principles. Must have an understanding of basic accounting concepts.
• Other Abilities: Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite. Must have project coordination experience and the ability to work with all levels of internal management and staff. Must be able to effectively troubleshoot and resolve issues in relation to project completion and EHS compliance concerns. Must have strong regulatory research proficiency, report writing and procedure creation/ revision.

Tools used:
• Must be proficient at operating a personal computer, cell phone, copier/scanner, calculator, audiometer, gas meter, multimeter, WBGT, etc.

ITAR Compliance:
• Access to our facility (and, therefore, employment) is restricted under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and/ or Export Administration Regulations (EAR) to U.S. Citizens, lawful permanent residents, U.S. refugees, asylees or temporary residents under amnesty provisions [as defined in 8 USC 1324b(a)(3)] and properly licensed foreign persons.
