Who is Senior Aerospace AMT/Damar?

We are a manufacturer of structural parts for the leading original equipment manufacturers (OEM's) in the large business and regional jet markets. Our experience and capabilities span multiple segments of an aircraft, including the engine pylon, struts, wing box, wings, wheel well, and the interior. What does the job involve?

The CNC Programmer designs tooling and manufacturing processes according to guidelines and planning requirements. This position also creates numerical control programs for machining various materials on automated machine tools.

What will my responsibilities include?

  1. Analyzes drawings, sketches, and design data of part configuration to determine selection of cutting tools and machine cutting parameters.
  2. Assess labor requirement and develop materials budgets.
  3. Create quotes and manufacturing plans as needed for proposals.
  4. Provide complete estimates in proposal forms.
  5. Review quotes and jobs to verify accuracy of bills of materials and labor requirements.
  6. Determines method of work holding and optimal machine cutting paths.
  7. Uses CAD/CAM software to produce numerical code required to machine part.
  8. Creates instruction sheets and cutter lists for setup and operation of machine.
  9. Writes program instructions in numerical control symbolic language (G code).
  10. Revises program to eliminate instruction errors or omissions.
  11. Observes operation of machine on trial run to prove taped or programmed instructions.
  12. Coordinate, design and implement machining processes to produce parts per customer requirements.
  13. Collaborate with manufacturing, and quality personnel as needed on technical issues.
  14. Develops, evaluates, and improves manufacturing methods utilizing knowledge of product design, materials and parts fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment capabilities, and quality control standards.
  15. Follows all safety guidelines established by the Company, including proper use of safety equipment and relevant safety procedures.
  16. Performs other duties as assigned.

What key skills and experience do I need?

  • Basic Math skills using percentages.
  • Detail oriented. Accuracy a must.
  • Able to work independently and multi task.
  • Must be flexible with ability to prioritize as needed.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work with suppliers and customers.
  • Experienced with Outlook, Word and Excel.

What qualifications should I have?

  • Two years of CAD/CAM numerical control programming experience.
  • Esprit and Solidworks software knowledge a plus.
  • Knowledge of general manufacturing engineering and CNC machining practices, manual machining, and tooling/fixturing.
  • Experience with set up and run of NC Machines.
  • ERP software knowledge a plus.
  • Experienced in using office equipment/software.
  • Punctuality and ability to work additional hours to achieve required tasks.
  • Willingness to learn.
