Who is Senior Metal Bellows?

Senior Metal Bellows continues to refine and develop welded metal bellows technology and the integration of welded metal bellows into critical aerospace, semiconductor, medical, defense, and industrial applications. Our 115,000 square-foot manufacturing facility is conveniently located on Route 1 in Sharon, Massachusetts.

What is the Position?

Reporting directly to the Chief Commercial Officer, plan and design automation solutions to support and enhance our manufacturing processes.  Requires experience in design and development of automation equipment as well as the ability to interface with manufacturing leadership to identify needs and opportunities to maximize production efficiency via automation.

What are the key responsibilities?

  1. Primary responsibility will be to lead projects in the development and implementation of manufacturing automation solutions in welding and mechanical assembly processes.. including:   design, specification, directing and managing vendors and internal assembly, installation and qualification of automated systems and equipment.
  2. Develop and implement improvements to existing automation assets
  3. Prepare /coordinate design, assembly, and process documentation
  4. Coordinate multiple ongoing projects
  5. Supervise activities of a small team of automation specialists
  6. Work closely with internal customers and vendors to resolve issues and provide technical support
  7. Develop and implement maintenance programs for equipment 
  8. Work with operation managers to identify potential automation solutions for general production needs
  9. Lead and direct communication strategies to keep leadership and the organization informed

  10. Qualifications:
  • Manufacturing Automation Engineer with minimum 3-5years experience
  • BS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
  • Strong Project Management skills with the ability to properly motivate team members
  • Understanding and functional knowledge vision systems, sensors, pneumatics, motion control systems, data acquisition and robotics is a plus
  • Experience and functional knowledge of programming languages including: Various PLC logic software (Direct6 and or Allen Bradley), MotionWorks IEC, Microsoft Visual Studio (dot NET and C# apps), any type of machine vision software, any type of GUI software development tools, NC machine tool language, Poliscope (Universal robots) / Adept “ACE” or any other type of robot programming language, Modbus TCP protocol, and Autocad Electrical or Solidworks CAD software would be a plus.
  • Machine specification development
  • Excellent teamwork and collaboration capabilities
  • Design and application knowledge of ergonomic and machine safety standards (CE a plus)
  • Solidworks/MS Office suite
