Who is Senior Metal Bellows?

Senior Metal Bellows continues to refine and develop welded metal bellows technology and the integration of welded metal bellows into critical aerospace, semiconductor, medical, defense, and industrial applications. Our 115,000 square-foot manufacturing facility is conveniently located on Route 1 in Sharon, Massachusetts.

What is the Position?

Responsible for creating and updating 3D models and detailed drawings for tools, devices, and equipment using SolidWorks 3D CAD software.

What are the key responsibilities?

  1. Work from blueprints, customer drawings, sketches, and written and verbal instructions from supervisor, engineering, and operations personnel.
  2. Create and update models and 2D drawings for tools, jigs, and fixtures needed for the manufacture of Company products and equipment.
  3. Use 3D CAD software to conceptualize and detail a wide variety of tools and fixtures and ensure parts can be efficiently manufactured, using available machines and equipment.
  4. Design and modify new and existing tools in support of all manufacturing processes.
  5. Update product and tooling drawings per ECO specifications. Upgrade existing tooling prints.
  6. Reverse engineer existing tools on the floor that may not have part numbers or existing drawings associated with them.
  7. Work in coordination with Manufacturing Engineering and Operations Technicians to troubleshoot tooling problems in manufacturing processes, determine cause and take necessary corrective action to update and improve the design.
  8. Design minor components or portions of major functional systems and modify existing designs to develop or improve products and facilitate manufacturing operations.      

  What Education and Qualifications are needed for the job?

  • Associates Degree or relevant technical certification along with experience with mechanical design and/or machining.
  • Understand manufacturing and machining fabrication methods such as milling, turning, drilling, tapping, etc.
  • Familiar with 3D CAD software and understands the basics of part and assembly modelling and drawing creation.
  • Read, understand, and create technical drawings that clearly communicate geometric requirements of a given part.

Ideal candidate will have a strong interest in the following:

    • Use of 3D SolidWorks CAD software
    • Mechanical design of tools, product, and equipment
    • Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DFMA)
    • Design principles and problem-solving
