Who is Senior Aerospace AMT/Damar?

We are a manufacturer of structural parts for the leading original equipment manufacturers (OEM's) in the large business and regional jet markets. Our experience and capabilities span multiple segments of an aircraft, including the engine pylon, struts, wing box, wings, wheel well, and the interior. What does the job involve?

The Machine Process Engineer & Drafter will act as a liaison between Programming and Machining Operations. They will ensure robust processes and provide technical assistance to Machining Operations. In addition, this role does include drafting responsibilities. In this portion they will coordinate and collect data using 3D software and customer furnished engineering to create detailed Sketches to be utilized for manufacturing, assembly, processing and inspection. 

What will my responsibilities include?

  • Process Improvement Leader by coordinating activity with programmers and Machining Leaders. This includes NC program improvements, fixturing methods, set-up reduction, cutter testing and recommendation.
  • Daily Technical Support to Production Managers, Supervisors, & Leads as required
  • Assist Machine Leaders in mentoring of skills development for machinists
  • Assist With RCCA Activities (root-cause corrective-action). Such as:
    • Daily Investigation of Scrap/Rejections
    • Collaboration with programmers in problem solving
    • Investigate and complete CARS – Issued from QA
    • Incident Investigations
    • Data Collection / Analysis as Required (six sigma
    • Assist with Run 1 Activities
    • Initiate, approve, & coordinate RPPC’s
    • Troubleshoot & improve basic programs supporting RPPC’s
    • Work with Maintenance to troubleshoot machine issues (geometry issues, ball bar testing, etc.)
    • Redlining of MO’s in SyteLine for work center changes. Addition of ME Op as required
  • Implementation of Lean Practices in everyday process improvement activities
    • Assist with Tap Testing and new cutting tool evaluation and machining process improvements
    • Coordinate and collaborate with all other departments of the Company.
  • Read and interpret customer supplied engineering, GD&T, and related specs.
  • Convert 3d datasets between software’s as necessary.
  • Create PCM’s as necessary to measure profiles and locations in flat patterns
  • Receive customer supplied files and sort them into respective locations on the company network.
  • Listen and applying feedback for improvements.
  • Operate independently and productively unsupervised. 
  • Communicate effectively with the team to ensure on time delivery.
  • Use Microsoft Office programs – Outlook, excel, word, etc.
  • Observe, receive, and otherwise obtain information from all relevant sources.
  • Strong, effective communication skills both verbally and written.
  • Provide other drafting related services as required by Management
  • Follows all safety guidelines established by the Company, including proper use of safety equipment and relevant safety procedures

What key skills and experience do I need?

  • Technically oriented with high attention to detail
  • Basic understanding of NC programming and G-code
  • Able to reorder priorities in accordance with changing work conditions and customer requirements
  • Able to multi-task and work well without supervision
  • Use good judgment and common sense to make numerous daily decisions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be self-motivated and possess strong organizational skills
  • Anticipates internal and external customer needs, gives high priority to customer satisfaction and service

What qualifications should I have?

  • 5 years plus Machining Experience, Engineering or Technical Degree (preferred)
  • Good understanding of CNC Controls, CNC Machinery, fixturing methods, & troubleshooting of machining processes
  • Basic understanding in GD&T and Corrective Action Processes
  • Experienced with PC's, excel, PowerPoint, and CAD systems
  • Good blueprint reading skills
  • Training or experience in Lean Manufacturing a plus
