Who is Senior Aerospace AMT/Damar?

We are a manufacturer of structural parts for the leading original equipment manufacturers (OEM's) in the large business and regional jet markets. Our experience and capabilities span multiple segments of an aircraft, including the engine pylon, struts, wing box, wings, wheel well, and the interior. Our success is based on utilizing proprietary manufacturing techniques to manufacture high quality complex parts through cost effective production.

What does the job involve?

The Estimator previews all incoming bid opportunities to determine scope, fitness to Company capabilities and assesses the likelihood of providing a successful bid, given customer requirements.  The Estimator applies estimated labor time to detail parts, sub-assemblies and assemblies while working with qualified engineering and shop personnel, suppliers, vendors, and tool manufacturers.  The Estimator works with the team to assure timeliness, accuracy and completeness of bid prior to submittal.

What will my responsibilities include?

  • Creating quotes and manufacturing plans for proposals.
  • Reviews and assesses quote request package for terms, special requirements, due date, etc.
  • Communicates the scope of the project, special considerations or needs for tooling, equipment or personnel
  • Creates/verifies Bills of Materials (BOM) and develops labor, material, tooling, subcontracting and special requirements
  • Thoroughly studies engineering documentation for manufacturing requirements and material/process specifications.
  • When needed, communicates with customers on requests (i.e. engineering, drawings, models, specs, breakdowns, etc.)
  • Works with Purchasing to coordinate any items to be bid by outside vendors, suppliers or tooling in support of bid
  • Estimates machine set-up and run times, cost for tooling, programs and outside processes
  • Assures timeliness, accuracy, and completeness of bid, prior to submittal.
  • Follows all safety guidelines established by the Company, including proper use of safety equipment and relevant safety procedures
  • Performs other duties as assigned

What key skills and experience do I need?

  • Well versed knowledge of manufacturing of metal parts and parts assemblies, CNC machining, sheet metal fabrication, manual machining, tooling/fixtures and assembly processes.
  • Able to reorder priorities in accordance with changing work conditions, customer demands, management direction and workload
  • Able to multi-task and work well without supervision
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to collaborate with all other departments of the Company
  • Must be self-motivated and possess strong organizational skills
  • Anticipates internal and external customer needs, gives high priority to customer satisfaction and service

What qualifications should I have?

  • 2 years previous experience in estimating and/or planning
  • Reasonable background in MS Excel, Word, Outlook, basic abilities in PowerPoint, knowledge of CAD software (CATIA)
  • Strong background in machining, sheet metal, and/or complex assembly techniques
  • Highly skilled in reading blueprints and geometric dimensioning and tolerance (GD&T)
  • Associates Degree or higher preferable
