Who is Senior Aerospace AMT/Damar?

We are a manufacturer of structural parts for the leading original equipment manufacturers (OEM's) in the large business and regional jet markets. Our experience and capabilities span multiple segments of an aircraft, including the engine pylon, struts, wing box, wings, wheel well, and the interior. What does the job involve?

The Quality Engineer supports flow down of all customer and industry standard requirements to ensure that product meets contracted requirements.  The Quality Engineer  will be required to interface with Manufacturing, Engineering and Quality personnel and is required to dress and act in a professional and appropriate manner. The Quality Engineer 1 performs the following duties under minimal supervision.

What will my responsibilities include?

  • Maintains a working knowledge of customer and industry quality standards (AS9100 / AS9102).
  • Reads and interprets engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Understands GD&T (geometric dimensioning and tolerance).
  • Performs internal audits to verify/ensure conformance to AMT requirements and prepares formal audit reports.
  • Applies PO Quality clauses to applicable product in MRP system.
  • Maintains the AMT Approved Supplier List.
  • Reviews manufacturing plans/NRCs created by Engineering and approves them based on compliance with customer specifications.
  • Prepares First Article Inspection Reports in accordance with AS9102 standards.
  • Researches quality escapes and assigned Corrective Action Requests and supporting investigations.
  • Presentation of information to internal Company staff.
  • Works with all departments to support continuous improvement activities.
  • Follows all safety guidelines established by the Company, including proper use of safety equipment and relevant safety procedures.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Collaborates and cooperates with Manufacturing, Engineering, and the Quality Department.  Knows when to ask for information and assistance.  Demonstrates a willing, positive, and proactive attitude.  Follows verbal and written instructions; works independently with a minimum of supervision.
  • Takes responsibility for own actions and results
  • Understands and complies with AMT company policies and guidelines as described in the Employee Handbook, the Employee Safety Manual and the Quality Management System.  Complies with rules and procedures of a drug-free workplace.

What qualifications should I have?

  • 5 years Quality Assurance/Inspection experience in a regulated industry or 2-3 years QA experience with a degree in a related field.
  • Proficiency in MS Word and Excel, Power Point, and email systems.
  • Ability to read and understand Engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Basic understanding of GT&D.
  • Basic ability to navigate within Business/ERP Systems and CAD Environments (Catia/Enovia).
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Quality Assurance/Inspection experience in the aerospace industry.
  • Documented internal audit experience.
  • Hands-on inspection experience of aircraft structural parts.
  • Familiarity with Root Cause Analysis and RCCA methodology and tools (5 Why’s, Fishbone Diagrams, etc.).
  • Engineering degree or Cert Quality Engineer (ASQ).
