Who is SSP?

Senior Aerospace SSP, specializes in designing, manufacturing, and qualifying complex ducting systems for aerospace applications. Since its humble roots in 1945, the campus has now expanded to include a 59,000 sq. ft high-volume production facility, in addition to its legacy 131,000 ft2 main buildings which combined, accommodate over 500 employees. Vertically integrated with its own foundry, fabrication shop, and ISO certified engineering lab, Senior Aerospace SSP acquired by Senior PLC in 1995 and has continued its expansion into new programs and technologies. 

What does the job involve?

Summary: The Accounting Manager is responsible for all areas relating to financial reporting. This position will be responsible for developing and maintaining accounting principles, practices and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial statements. The Accounting Manager supervises both exempt and non-exempts employees and is responsible for managing the team to ensure that work is properly allocated and completed in a timely and accurate manner. This position addresses tight deadlines and a multitude of accounting activities including general ledger preparation, financial reporting, year-end audit preparation and the support of budget and forecast activities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Under general supervision, must be able to perform a variety of job duties including, but not limited to:

  • Management of Accounts Payable; Accounts Receivable; Payroll & General Accounting functions, reconciliation, and Expense tracking.
  • Ensure an accurate and timely monthly-close process.
  • Ensure the timely reporting of all (i.e., weekly & monthly) financial information.
  • Ensure the accurate and timely processing of positive pay transactions; weekly forecast; and MTD actual tracking.
  • Monitors and analyzes department work to develop more efficient procedures and use of resources while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
  • Advises staff regarding the handling of non-routine reporting transactions.
  • Work with the CFO to ensure a clean and timely year end audit; report monthly results and other data to Home Office.
  • Provide training to new and existing staff as needed.
  • Work with each direct report to establish goals and objectives for each year and monitor and advise on the progress to enhance the professional development of staff.
  • Support CFO with special projects and workflow process improvements.
  • Follow all Senior policies and procedures.
  • Other duties with the work as assigned.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree with major studies in Accounting or Business Administration. Accounting courses should include: budget analysis and control, tax accounting, auditing, advance accounting problems, etc.
  • Five years of accounting supervision/management job experience.
  • Five years of progressively responsible professional accounting background with balanced diversification in general, payroll and tax accounting, budgets, internal auditing, credits and collections, cash and banking.

 

Required Skills:

  • Language: Ability to communicate in English (verbally and written) effectively with all levels of employees within the company.
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, & percentages.
  • Other Abilities: Must be able to effectively use Excel, MAPICS, & FRx reporting. Must be able to plan, set-up, and administer a wide variety of accounting operations, to analyze and compute essential data objectively, and to work under pressure with a high degree of accuracy.  Must have a well-organized personality. Must be able to establish cooperative relationships at all levels. Must be able to supervise a number of small groups of professional, sub-professional and clerical employees engaged in varied, but interrelated accounting operations.
