Position Summary:

This position is primarily responsible for collecting, validating and communicating data for the purposes of financial transparency and process improvements. They are responsible for the initiating the month-end closing and reporting processes, which they in turn submit to management. They set standard costs of business processes such as labor, shipping, production and administration.

Essential Responsibilities:

Essential Duties in Order of Priority

Collecting and analyzing data to determine costs of business activity such as raw material purchases, inventory, and labor

Analyzing actual manufacturing costs/variances and preparing periodic reports comparing standard costs to actual production costs

Recording and reconciling departmental costs for use in controlling expenditures

Providing management with reports specifying and comparing factors affecting prices and profitability of products or services

Executing the periodic (monthly, quarterly, annual) financial close process with focus on inventory and cost of goods sold, including preparing and maintaining reporting schedules

Maintain fixed asset reporting and tracking of CIP activity

Interface with company employees in related functions and demonstrate judgment, tact, and diplomacy when dealing with internal and external customers

Drive process improvements in cost accounting processes and data flows throughout the accounting department

Accurately tracking and reporting Sales Taxes for 2 states

Support technical accounting issues related to the month end and quarter end financial close and understand the accounting impact of proposed transactions regarding different functions and ensure US GAAP principles and rules are properly adhered to

Execute key inventory and cost of goods sold process controls and ensure documentation of those controls adhere to audit requirements

Conducts physical inventories and monitors cycle count program

Other reasonable duties as business and operational needs dictate

Education:

Bachelor's degree related to finance, accounting or business administration

Experience:

Minimum of 2 to 5 years accounting in a Manufacturing Environment (preferably in Cost Accounting)

Experience/knowledge of equipment, machines, tools, etc:

Requires experience working cross-functionally with engineering and manufacturing personal on development and analysis of cost standards

Requires experience accurately preparing daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports

Communication and Language skills:

Must be able to communicate and interact with employees at all levels of the organization both verbally and written 

Ability to present to management

Mathematical skills:

Intermediate mathematics skills, including basic algebra and statistics

Computer Skills:

Advanced working knowledge in MS Word and Excel spreadsheets – formulas, graphs and charts. 

Proficiency in creation of PowerPoint

Familiarity with ERP systems

Experience with Cloudsuite Industrial (SyteLine) a plus

Reasoning ability:

Requires ability to assess facts and develop conclusions

Supervision Received:

Receives direction on an as needed basis.  Incumbent has authority to make decisions related to regular tasks and actions without consulting manager

Supervisory Responsibilities:

No supervisory authority over others. Will assist with coworkers when needed to help direct and make decisions within company and legal guidelines

Discretion and independent Judgement:  

Incumbent will be responsible for making day to day decisions related Cost Accounting process and procedures. Has good judgement to determine when a situation requires notification to higher level management. Has the initiative to act independently to follow-up with appropriate individuals within the company to ask questions and resolve issues

Interaction with others (internally and externally):

Interacts internally with co-workers, managers and senior managers on a daily basis
