Who is SSP?

Senior Aerospace SSP, specializes in designing, manufacturing, and qualifying complex ducting systems for aerospace applications. Since its humble roots in 1945, the campus has now expanded to include a 59,000 sq. ft high-volume production facility, in addition to its legacy 131,000 ft2 main buildings which combined, accommodate over 500 employees. Vertically integrated with its own foundry, fabrication shop, and ISO certified engineering lab, Senior Aerospace SSP acquired by Senior PLC in 1995 and has continued its expansion into new programs and technologies. 

What does the job involve?

Summary: 

The individual in the position of Contracts Administrator (“CA”) negotiates, accepts, and processes orders on Company products and performs tasks related to the contract performance and sales process. This individual performs duties and responsibilities under minimal supervision and nominal direction from the Contracts Manager.  This is not an entry level position.  The CA is familiar and comfortable with the terms and details of complex aerospace contracts.  The CA will finalize and submit responses to customer quotes, ensure proper follow-up on contract requirements, and frequently interact with customers, using good judgment and discretion to ensure customer satisfaction. The CA will assist in contract negotiations and work with the planning department on customer account activities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Evaluates and processes requests for quotation from aerospace customers.
  • Analyzes and decides which provisions of a request must be brought to the attention of other departments and what exceptions must be made in the quote presentation and submittal.
  • Determines and facilitates the involvement of other departments to secure proper performance of a contract or information as required by customers.
  • Assesses complex solicitations and prepares specialized and/or non-routine responses to proposals, bids, and contract modifications.
  • Coordinates with other departments within the Organization to ensure various inputs are provided timely and accurately. Communicates directly with customers regarding contract submittals and responses.
  • Evaluates and processes all orders and contracts. Issues sales orders and sales order changes impacting MRP/ERP and determines any contractual exceptions as required.
  • Follows up with customer and other internal departments to ensure work is performed properly and all necessary information is provided.
  • Exercises critical judgment and discretion to prioritize work to be performed on assigned accounts. Coordinates with production control in deciding the priority of customer needs in areas of scheduling problems or challenges.
  • Responds promptly to requests from other departments for information or changes as required from customers.
  • Takes responsibility for all activities on each specific contract assigned. Exercises judgment and discretion to decide if an unhealthy area exists on any contract and timely inform management to obtain assistance.
  • Stays alert to the possibilities of new or expanded customer business for the Organization’s products and services; conveys pertinent information to upper management for appropriate follow-up.
  • Analyzes and implements aerospace contract terms and conditions.
  • Analyzes and applies government FAR/DFARS regulations.
  • Determines and analyzes cost and pricing data, as applicable.
  • Presents analysis and information in internal and external customer account meetings.
  • Has general familiarity and knowledge of trade compliance, including International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) regulations and the Organization’s compliance program in place.
  • Supports internal departmental process improvement projects and throughput.
  • Determines next steps and provides support during internal and external departmental audits.
  • Analyzes and provides direction on strategic contractual matters.

Education and Experience:

  • College degree preferred and 2-8+ years’ experience in the field of contracts administrator/customer service representative; aerospace experience preferred. 
  • Sophisticated experience in sales quotations, pricing, project/program management, sales correspondence, web-based customer order portals, knowledge of quotation practices, and internal status requests required. 
  • Professional ability to communicate well with customers in a diplomatic manner and build relationships.
  • Ability to be inquisitive and collective in thinking to work with other disciplines and collaborate on ideas and thoughts in resolving complex problems.
  • Proficient and effective in making presentations to sophisticated aerospace customers and leading customer meetings. 
  • Sophisticated ability to understand problems and apply conceptual thinking to solve problems. 
  • Proficient and effective in using MS Word, PowerPoint and Excel programs to quickly analyze data, make informed decisions, and present information effectively.

ITAR Compliance:

  • Access to our facility (and, therefore, employment) is restricted under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and/ or Export Administration Regulations (EAR) to U.S. Citizens, lawful permanent residents, U.S. refugees, asylees or temporary residents under amnesty provisions [as defined in 8 USC 1324b(a)(3)] and properly licensed foreign persons.
