What does the job involve?

The Trade Compliance Specialist will ensure that all import and export activities and transactions comply with government agency regulations and Customs, function as an import/export resource for the company and administer the corporate trade compliance program, processes and training.

What will my responsibilities include?

  1. Interpreting U.S. trade regulations (ITAR, EAR, OFAC, ATF and Customs) and providing necessary guidance to internal customers.
  2. Interfacing with Program Managers, internal functions (Human Resources, Supply Chain, Engineering, Shipping, IT, Purchasing, Customer Service, Contracts, Sales/Marketing) and senior leadership to ensure all work processes are in compliance U.S. Trade regulations.
  3. Manage internal trade compliance program and associated elements.
  4. Experience with determining import and export classifications.
  5. Drafting, submitting and managing export licenses, technical assistance agreements, commodity jurisdiction and classification requests, as required to support business initiatives.
  6. Reviewing and approving international shipments, foreign travel, incoming foreign visitors, release of technology and technical data, to ensure compliance with applicable U.S. regulations and Harris policies and procedures.
  7. Providing new hire and annual trade compliance training.
  8. Assisting with internal audits.
  9. Reporting violations to Corporate
  10. Drafting voluntary self-disclosures as needed.
  11. Other duties as assigned.

What key skills and experience do I need?

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in International Relations, Business Administration, or Engineering, 4+ years of relevant experience and practical knowledge in:
  2. US. trade regulations (ITAR, EAR, OFAC and Customs) with demonstrated prior experience working in a trade compliance role.
  3. Use of D-Trade, SNAP-R and ACE.
  4. International shipping and Customs procedures.
  5. Use of license exemption and exceptions.
  6. Export classification of goods, services and information and product database management.
  7. Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).

What qualifications should I have?

  1. Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment that requires the management of multiple projects at one time.
  2. Excellent writing and communication skills.
  3. Excellent work habits, including a willingness to work the hours necessary to complete a task or project, especially when important deadlines cause greater than normal departmental pressures.
  4. Excellent professional demeanor and ability to collaborate with other departments
