JOB SUMMARY:
Operate fabricating machines such as shears, rolls, brake presses, forming machines, punches, planishers, burn tables and lathes to cut, shape and bend metal plate and sheet.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Review schedule, prioritize daily work, review specifications and blueprints to determine machine and material requirements.
- Operate equipment as needed to produce parts within required tolerances.
- Review inventory against anticipated work load to maintain adequate stocking levels. Detects and reports defective materials to management.
- Design and implement work methods and procedures to increase productivity and improve throughput.
- Follow all safety rules regarding machine operation and proper guarding.
- Organize and maintain work area to achieve safe, clean and efficient operations.
- Performs other duties and assignments as directed by management.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- Good command of the English language, both written and spoken.
- Able to read and interpret drawings and follow work instructions.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals; use basic measuring tools.
- Must have sufficient visual acuity to operate machines and visually inspect parts produced.
- Required to stand, walk and use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; to talk and hear, to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
- Able to regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently life and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Must have excellent organizational and communication skills with ability to work well with external and internal customers.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or GED required. Technical school graduate preferred.
- Related experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
