What does the job involve?

Leads the Manufacturing Engineering, Planning and Tool Design departments in achieving business goals, while providing overall Engineering support and guidance to the company as a whole. Responsible for promoting lean/continuous improvement culture throughout the business. Key contributor in business projects to drive quality improvement, cost reduction, and technological advancements in manufacturing processes. Supports customer surveys, audits and assessments from an Engineering standpoint to ensure compliance with all standards and specifications.

What will my responsibilities include?

  • Provide oversight and leadership to Manufacturing Engineering, Planning and Tool Design departments as they conduct process improvements, Methods Engineering, Design and Manufacture of Assembly tooling
  • Provide technical guidance to team members for drawing interpretation, specification requirements, compliance with customer and industry standards
  • Develop and support organizational strategic objectives
  • Conduct business level risk assessments, develop and implement mitigation strategies
  • Work with CFO and VP/GM as applicable to develop organizational budgets, perform within those developed budgets
  • Working with senior leadership team, develop and support continuous/lean improvement project targets
  • Provide Engineering support for customer/certification agency audits such as AS9100, Nadcap
  • Perform disciplinary actions as needed
  • Other reasonable duties as business and operational needs dictate

 

What key skills and experience do I need?

  • 10+ years manufacturing experience, preferably in Aerospace Industry
  • 5+ years experience in tool design related field
  • Previous experience as a Manager or Director of Engineering in the Aerospace field
  • Previous experience with rapid prototyping/3D printing
  • Previous work in ERP systems, Syteline preferred
  • Aerospace welding methods, practices and requirements for Aluminum, Titanium, Inconel and Stainless Steel
  • Work with Manual TIG and semi-automated orbital welding on thin wall tubing (.020”-.090” wall)
  • Quality improvement activities and RCCA specific to welding processes
  • Tube and Duct fabrication practices (cut, cope, drilling, machining using conventional milling)
  • using Aluminum, Titanium, Inconel and Stainless Steel
  • Machinery and equipment design using hydraulics and pneumatics
  • Clean room environment requirements
  • Non-destructive testing using methods Digital Radiography, Florescent Penetrant

What qualifications should I have?

Education:

  • Bachelor degree in Manufacturing Engineering or Mechanical Engineering

Experience/knowledge of equipment, machines, tools, etc:

  • Rapid prototyping, CMM, hand inspection tools, manufacturing equipment such as tube benders, saws, CNC mills/lathes
