What does the job involve?

The tooling inspector uses measurement tools such as PCMM (Portable Coordinate Measuring Machine), CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine), calipers, micrometers and other hand tools in order to verify dimensional characteristics of tooling and tooling components. The operation of the PCMM or CMM includes creation of basic inspection programs in order to meet drawing inspection requirements. As part of this role, the inspector may also operate Stereolithography machines and perform cleaning and assembly of tooling and fixtures.

What will my responsibilities include?

  • Interpret drawings.
  • Operate portable coordinate measuring machine.
  • Create basic PCMM programs.
  • Use hand inspection tools (calipers, micrometers, etc.).
  • Basic operation of CAD programs to open model files.
  • Assemble fixtures and tooling.
  • Operate stereolithography machines.
  • Clean fixtures and tooling after coming out of stereolithography machine.
  • Provide shop support/technical assistance.
  • Other reasonable duties as business and operational needs dictate.

What qualifications should I have?

Education:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

Experience:

  • One-year experience with inspection.
  • Experience/knowledge of equipment, machines, tools, etc.
  • Previous experience with inspection tools such as calipers, micrometers needed. Knowledge or previous experience with fixtures and tooling helpful.

Communication and Language Skills:

  • Must be able to communicate and interact with employees at all levels of the organization both verbally and written.

Computer Skills:

  • Experience working in MS office suite and CAD software.

Reasoning ability:

  • Requires ability to assess facts and develop conclusions.

Other Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities:

  • Mechanical skills.
  • Ability to use hand tools.
  • Work in a team environment.
  • Ability to stay focused in a fast-paced environment.
  • Flexibility and adaptability.
