Who is SSP?

Senior Aerospace SSP, specializes in designing, manufacturing, and qualifying complex ducting systems for aerospace applications. Since its humble roots in 1945, the campus has now expanded to include a 59,000 sq. ft high-volume production facility, in addition to its legacy 131,000 ft2 main buildings which combined, accommodate over 500 employees. Vertically integrated with its own foundry, fabrication shop, and ISO certified engineering lab, Senior Aerospace SSP acquired by Senior PLC in 1995 and has continued its expansion into new programs and technologies. 

What does the job involve?

Summary: Provides leadership and coordination of company financial planning, debt financing, and budget management functions. Ensures company accounting procedures conform to generally accepted accounting principles.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Under general supervision, must be able to perform a variety of job duties including, but not limited to:

  • Establishes/recommends major economic strategies, objectives, accounting metrics and policies for division.
  • Prepares reports which summarize and forecast business activity and financial position in the areas of income; expenses; and earnings based on past, present, and expected operations.
  • Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings
  • Responsible for the month end closing process.
  • Manages and directs the Finance Team.
  • Maintains a documented system of controls over accounting transactions, policies and procedures.
  • Directs preparation of budgets, reviews budget proposals, and prepares necessary supporting documentation and justification.
  • Provides management with timely reviews of organization's financial status and progress in its various programs and activities.
  • Directs determination of depreciation rates to apply to capital assets.
  • Advises management on desirable operational adjustments due to tax code revisions.
  • Arranges for audits of company's accounts.
  • Prepares reports required by regulatory agencies and corporate office.
  • Establishes relations with banks and other financial institutions.
  • Follow all Senior policies and procedures.
  • Other duties with the work as assigned.

 Education and/or Experience:

  • Must possess a bachelor’s degree with major studies in accounting and finance and/or business administration.
  • 8 years of progressively responsible professional accounting background. Good understanding of inventory, standard costing, payroll, budgets, internal auditing, credits and collections, & cash and banking. Aerospace and/or manufacturing background is required.

Required Skills:

  • Language: Ability to establish cooperative relationships at all levels. Must have excellent communication and inter-personal skills; must have the ability to read, comprehend, present, and write correspondence, reports, presentations, technical journals and data, policies, procedures, etc.
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed, written and oral instructions. Ability to solve problems involving many variables in various situations.
  • Mathematical Skills: Must have advanced knowledge of accounting and finance methodology.
  • Other Abilities: Must have the ability to plan, set up, and administer a wide variety of accounting operations, to analyze and compute essential data objectively, and to work under pressure with a high degree of accuracy. Must have extensive knowledge of GAAP. Must be well-organized and high level of attention to detail.
