Senior Metal Bellows continues to refine and develop welded metal bellows technology and the integration of welded metal bellows into critical aerospace, semiconductor, medical, defense, and industrial applications. Our 115,000 square-foot manufacturing facility is conveniently located on Route 1 in Sharon, Massachusetts. We have demonstrated excellence in creating new products and solutions that face extremes of temperature, pressure, leakage risk, and reliability demands. What is the Position?
Provide leadership, direction, and coordination of all machining operations including but not limited to pre-production planning, machining, and schedule achievement (OTD) for the machine shop utilizing knowledge of machining capabilities, product technology, and production methods. Responsible for the overall culture, team member relations and operational performance in alignment with the Company’s core values and initiatives. Also responsible for demonstrating personal leadership, effectively managing manufacturing activities and resources for assigned manufacturing area(s) ensuring an efficient operation in achieving business targets with an emphasis on quality, on-time delivery and production efficiency, operational excellence/continuous improvement and positive team member relations, while fostering a culture of working safely.
What are the key responsibilities?
- Provide manufacturing direction and facilitate product development on new business opportunities
- Review for manufacturability and total manufacturing time (set-up and cycle-time) for existing and new prints
- Manage people, materials, and equipment by active presence on the shop floor to achieve the daily production schedule.
- Ensure the development of people, teams, and organizational capabilities though training, information sharing, coaching, feedback, recognition, delegation, and performance management.
- Establish production schedules and plan and arrange the daily work assignments for the departments to meet schedule requirements and effectively balance production to control costs.
- Identify, recommend, and implement manufacturing cost-reduction initiatives.
- Evaluate and identify capital expense needs, and develop a roadmap to deploy resources
- Use of critical thinking skills to address and resolve complex operational issues.
- Accountable for operational excellence activities to deliver high levels of service to internal and external customers.
- Develop, implement, and monitor policies, methods, and procedures to ensure the safe, timely, and efficient manufacture of quality products in compliance with the customer’s requirements.
- Monitor product quality to ensure compliance with requirements and specifications, note deviations and take appropriate action.
- Direct, assist, instruct, and monitor personnel regarding schedules, methods, standards of workmanship, division policies, and safety procedures which impact performance. Reassign personnel as situations require and approve overtime requests.
- Communicate with Manufacturing Leadership to address production problems affecting delivery; discuss causes and take corrective action.
- Ensure compliance with Company policies and procedures, e.g., resource allocation/sharing, vacation scheduling, etc.to meet business needs.
What Education and Qualifications are needed for the job?
A minimum of Bachelor's degree (technical/engineering degree preferred) along with 5 years related experience managing machining operations.
