What does the job involve?

Summary: Sets up and inspects assemblies, sub-assemblies, and final assemblies for defects by use of hydro and gas pressure test equipment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Under general supervision, must be able to perform a variety of job duties including, but not limited to:

  • Installs sub-assemblies and final assemblies in test fixtures, test closures and other instrumenting devices.
  • Analyzes by visual examination and instrumentation of the sub-assemblies of final assemblies for leakage, deformation and mechanical properties.
  • Places applicable acceptance or rejection stamp on sub-assembly or final assembly.
  • Makes proper entries on test data and applicable quality control documents.
  • Performs re-inspection wherein the operations are essentially the same as the work described.
  • Assists lower grade operators in the proper use and function of all test equipment, correct means of checking sub-assemblies and final assemblies for leakage, deformation and mechanical requirements, and departmental procedure for recording of text data and quality control documents.
  • Prepares and processes proper documents.
  • May assist level III operators and performs the work satisfactorily as required.
  • Follow all Senior policies and procedure.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience:

  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree; or 1-2 years of related experience and/ or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Required Skills:

  • Language: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply a general understanding to carry out detailed, written and oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Mathematical Ability: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Other Abilities: Must be able to read and interpret blueprints. Must be familiar with pressure production testing techniques. Must be able to read and record data from list gauges. Must be able to identify and solve problems.

Tools used:

  • Light hand tools, and air hoses.

Materials used:

  • Ferrous and non- ferrous metals and their alloys.
