JOB SUMMARY

The Commodity Manager’s responsibilities will be to provide guidance and expertise to the Business Units and Purchasing teams on effective sourcing strategies, including leading formal RFQ/RFP/TCO analysis, sourcing new suppliers, raw material market strategies, and contract negotiations that include pricing strategies, risk mitigation, and aligning to corporate standard terms and customer agreements. Ensure compliance with senior policies and assist with compliance and regulatory audits.

 

KEY RESULTS AREAS

Strategic Sourcing

  • Source new suppliers through formal RFQ and TCO analysis process.
  • Align supplier agreements with customer agreements.
  • Contract negotiations, including strategies to decrease price and enhance favorable terms/mitigate risk, Develop and grow the industry, raw materials, and related supplier expertise.
  • Develop and execute commodity management strategies and align with sourcing objectives.
  • Ensuring compliance with all policies.
  •  Lead supplier onboarding and vendor maintenance activities.

Key Commodities and Industry Knowledge/Expertise

  • Use key commodities (stainless steel, stampings, castings, machined components) and manufacturing industry expertise. Keep abreast of general market conditions by tracking and understanding PPI, ECI, CPI, and other market-driven/economic indices.
  • Advise and provide guidance in terms of Tariffs, Currency Rate Fluctuations/Adjustments as they relate to sourcing decisions or in adjusting current supplier invoices.
  • Provides forecasts and reports related to pricing, market conditions, and supply-related issues.

Project Management

  • Effective self/task-related management skill sets.
  • Ability to manage and lead large-scale projects.
  • Track the progress of projects and follow up on tasks, objectives, and deadlines in conjunction with cross-functional teams.
  • Lead supplier launch meetings, identify key stakeholders, and track action items while establishing agreed-upon completion dates.

Standardized Purchasing Policies and Procedures

  • Assist Purchasing Manager with refining current Policies and Standard Work Instructions to document what is currently being done, and what the proposed changes should be, and assist in ensuring compliance for both Bartlett and Saltillo.

Strategic Vendor Management

  • Lead strategic vendor management activities through the development and execution of commodity strategies (short-term & long-term).
  • Ownership of supplier performance metrics (cost, quality, and delivery) through tracking, reporting, and influencing vendors.
  • Develop and achieve cost reductions through LTAs, sourcing, negotiations commodity strategies (exit, maintain, and grow) VAVEs, etc... Act as an escalation point for operational buyers.

EDUCATION

  • BA/BS Business Management, Supply Chain Management, or any other in the Related Field
  • Certifications – CPIM/ CSCP

EXPERIENCE

  • 7 to 10 years of experience in strategic sourcing, commodity, and/or purchasing management
  • Experience in automotive, aerospace, medical, and/or metal fabrication industries preferred.
