We are currently seeking a full-time Weld Lead for the 1st shift (6:30 am - 3:00 pm) at our El Cajon location.

What does the job involve?

The Lead Welder reports directly to the Warehouse Supervisor and receives daily tasks from the Supervisor and/or is responsible for seeing through longer-term projects. Where applicable, the Lead Welder maintains SQIDP boards and metrics and acts as a general inter-departmental liaison. The Lead Welder will act as a backup for the Supervisor. The Lead Wedler will maintain Minimum of 50 percent utilization on direct labor hours and occasional overtime to achieve customer delivery requirements.

What will my responsibilities include?

  • If applicable, determines specifications or procedures for tooling requirements, set-up procedures, machine operation, instructions, and machine knowledge.
  • Assist with production/maintenance issues as they arise.
  • Assist with Weld operators in troubleshooting weld functions and minor weld issues.
  • Performs hand and machine TIG welding on a variety of exotic metals and alloys for assemblies to meet strength and pressure requirements.
  • If applicable, determines specifications or procedures for tooling requirements, set-up procedures, machine operation, instructions, and machine knowledge.
  • Assist in training and mentoring employees needing assistance when necessary. Explains and demonstrate procedures and techniques to employees. Assists in scheduling personnel.
  • Assist with ensuring designated daily/weekly/monthly outputs are met.

  • May coordinate and communicate production/equipment status between departments/shifts.
  • Assist in problem-solving issues using correct tools such as SQIDPP, MRB process, and RCCA lead/participate in 10-minute SQDIPP meetings.
  • Assist and update visual presentations and performance measurements.
  • Organize, lead, and participate in lean functions and Kaizen events.
  • Support and guide efforts to continuously improve company performance related to “lean” manufacturing techniques, quality systems, cost, and delivery requirements.

What key skills and experience do I need?

  • Knowledge of Lincoln Arc Welder, Pus Arc-10-100, Sciaky, Jetline, Miller Maxstar 161, 175, 200, and 210.
  • Computer office programs; Microsoft Office.

What qualifications should I have?

Education:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience:

  • Minimum 6-10 years of experience within the Aerospace industry.
