We are currently seeking a full-time Shipping Coordinator for our 1st shift 6:30 am – 3:00 pm Monday – Friday at our Kearny Mesa location.
What does the job involve?
The Shipping Coordinator performs administrative functions related to the shipping of materials and products. Examines, verifies, and maintains records of incoming and outgoing shipments. Prepares all paperwork for shipment, including the addressing of merchandise or material and arranging for the transportation of products.
What will my responsibilities include?
- Examines, verifies, and maintains records on outgoing shipments; assess completeness, accuracy and conformance to required standards.
- Prepares paperwork for shipment, including certification packages, addresses merchandise or material, and arranges for the transportation of products.
- Determines appropriate shipping method for materials using knowledge of shipping procedures, routes, and rates.
- Follows appropriate shipping procedures; contacts carriers to make arrangements and issues instructions for shipping and the delivery of materials.
- Records shipment data, such as weight, charges, damages, and discrepancies for accounting and recordkeeping purposes.
- Reviews and maintains material certifications; completes certificates of conformance and accountability sheets and files appropriately.
- Computes and records shipments and distributes daily shipping reports.
- Identifies material with part number, revision, and other information per required specifications or other duties in the production, shipping, and/or receiving areas.
- Demonstrates ability to appear for work on time, work overtime when necessary, follows directions from direct supervisor, interacts well with co-workers, understands and follows work rules and procedures.
- Works safely, complies with corporate policies, goals, and objectives, accepts constructive feedback, establishes goals and objectives, and exhibits initiative and commitment.
- Participates in continuous improvement events, as needed.
- Provides suggestions and takes action to improve the operation.
- Develops and initiates Lean improvements, as available.
What key skills and experience do I need?
- Computer office programs; Microsoft Office.
- Must be detail oriented and demonstrate a strong team player attitude.
- Answer telephones.
What qualifications should I have?
Education:
- High school diploma/GED preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience:
- 2 years of experience in a shipping related function.
- Experience in a manufacturing industry, preferred.
- Previous experience in material identification with rubber stamp and electro etch, preferred.
