We are currently seeking a full-time NDT Inspector II for our 2nd shift (3:00pm – 11:30pm) or 3rd shift (11:30pm – 6:30am) at our Ketema location in El Cajon, CA.
What does the job involve?
The NDT Inspector II selects, performs, and evaluates the results of Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) on aerospace products. Documents the findings of visual, penetrant, and radiographic examinations of all components being inspected.
What will my responsibilities include?
- Applies the practical aspects of the applicable NDT method and the importance of following procedures exactly.
- Evaluates indications with reference to applicable standards and specifications.
- Identifies the type and location of expected defects for the fabrication process used to make the products.
- Understands and interprets the use of NDT and welding symbols on drawings.
- Prepares and maintains inspection reports and records.
- Directs and carries out tests in the method certified.
- Records variable data for individual statistical process control studies in appropriate logbooks.
- Clearly communicates in both verbal and written forms with internal and external customers, suppliers, and regulatory agencies as required.
- Collaborates with other colleagues and departments as needed.
- Upholds Company Quality Control procedures, as related to overall inspection requirements.
- Understands the practical theory of NDT, utilizing techniques from manuals and other source material for assistance when needed.
- Maintains cleanliness of the work area, proper handling of tools, equipment, and stock to prevent loss.
What key skills and experience do I need?
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and inspection instructions.
- Familiar with personal computers, photocopiers, fax machines, and calculators.
- Answers telephones.
- Maintains filing systems and logs.
- Radiographic equipment (film), borescopes, microscopes, and gauges such as calipers, micrometers, scales, and optical comparators.
- Product movement equipment such as cranes, pallet jacks. Fork lift certification a plus.
What qualifications should I have?
Education:
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Certified to NAS 410, NDT Level II in VT, PT, & RT (film).
- 40 hours of Radiation Safety training required for RT.
Experience:
- 1 year of applied work experience as a NDT Level II in VT, PT, & RT, preferably in Aerospace manufacturing.
