Lymington Precision Engineers (LPE) is a Senior Flexonics Group company, and is a leading manufacturer of precision machined components, assemblies and kit sets for the Oil and Gas, Telecommunications, Aerospace and Defence, Land and Sea Systems, Nuclear and Marine industries and emerging markets.

Head of Supply Chain - What does the job involve?
Responsible for the identification and engagement of prospective new sub-contractors, providing full end to end management from identification to mobilisation, including commercial negotiation, resource capacity and conformance to LPE specifications and requirements.
Review and improve current function and process to support organisational growth.
Responsible for development of the supply chain to support business needs.
Responsible for the efficient and effective delivery of stores and logistics.
Hours of work: 37.5 hours per week.
Dayshift - Monday to Thursday 8.15am to 5.00pm and Friday 8.30am to 1.00pm with 30-minute unpaid break for lunch
Head of Supply Chain - What will my responsibilities include?’
- Design and implement a supply chain that support LPE’s business strategies.
- Have ultimate responsibility for the performance management of all third party providers.
- Regularly evaluate the suitability of contractors to do the job through performance management and regular business reviews
- Drive the reduction of LPE’s acquisition costs of both goods and services.
- Build and manage strong relationships with all suppliers.
- Negotiate price and terms with suppliers
- Create a culture of ongoing continuous improvement and best practice.
- Lead, support, develop and motivate staff in procurement, stores & logistics.
- Collaborate with other key departments to identify or qualify new suppliers.
- Using the ERP system, improve tracking and reporting of materials, product distribution and storage.
- Implement new or improved supply chain processes.
- Design or implement plant warehousing strategies for production material and finished products.
- Confer with supply chain planners to forecast demand or create supply plans that ensure availability of materials or products.
- Analyse inventories to determine how to increase inventory turns, reduce waste and optimise customer service
Head of Supply Chain - What key skills and experience do I need?
- Must have the right to live and work in the UK (Essential)
- Significant experience in supply chain management in a manufacturing environment
- Ability to lead and manage a strong team
- Robust contract negotiation experience
- Effective management of a large supplier base and budget
- Solid financial awareness
- Previous experience establishing and sustaining effective working relationships both within the business and third parties
- Ability to view information and make decisions based on broader business context
- Clear performance management and development skills with the ability to provide a durable sense of direction with clear objectives.
- Engineering experience (Desirable)
- Knowledge of aerospace, oil and gas industry (Desirable)
- Be able to demonstrate extensive use of ERP systems
- Organisational skills (Time and method)
- Analytical thinking and Problem solving
- Computer literate, Microsoft Products
- Ability to manage change.
- Open to new ways of working
- Able to manage high pressure/tight timescales.
- Ability to work under own initiative.
- Strong communication skills
- Effective decision maker
Head of Supply Chain - What qualifications should I have?
- Certificate in procurement and supply operations
- Diploma in procurement and supply (Desirable)
- Level 5 Certificate in Management and Leadership (Desirable)
- Relevant degree (Desirable)
- Security Clearance (Desirable)
