MASTER TOOL AND DIE MAKER
JOB SUMMARY
Description: Plan, layout, and construct tools, dies, fixtures, and gauges. Program, set up, and operate various manual and CNC machining equipment as required to perform the task at hand. Work from blueprints, drawings, machining manuals, work instruction bulletins, and quality Specifications.
Duties:
- Work with production maintenance personnel to resolve equipment and/or tooling Failures, and initiate tooling changes.
- Write and program various CNC machines in order to accomplish machining tasks.
- Plan and layout tooling procedures and sequences and select proper materials for
Engineering designs.
- Select proper speeds, feeds, and adjustments as needed for various materials being Machined.
- Build and repair fixtures, tooling, and gauges that require extremely close tolerances.
- Setup and operate various manual machining equipment such as lathes, mills, drills, and
Grinders.
- Measure and determine tolerances to conform with engineering designs.
- Check the quality of work using precision measuring equipment to ensure conformance to
Quality specifications and drawings.
- Monitor tool room materials and supplies and place orders as needed.
- Clean and maintain equipment.
Requirements:
- Proficient use of all common hand tools and precision measurement tools including
Calipers, micrometers, veneers and gauges.
- Follows safe work practices for metalworking equipment and adheres to all safety rules.
Prerequisites:
- Over 5 years of experience working in a machine shop.
- Ability to program Okuma machine tools (G Code)
- Over one year of experience as a tool &Die maker (JC 901)
