Who is Senior Aerospace AMT/Damar?

We are a manufacturer of structural parts for the leading original equipment manufacturers (OEM's) in the large business and regional jet markets. Our experience and capabilities span multiple segments of an aircraft, including the engine pylon, struts, wing box, wings, wheel well, and the interior. What does the job involve?

The Quality Engineering Supervisor coordinates the daily activities of the Quality Engineers. The QE Supervisor provides leadership, training and supervision for all levels of Quality Engineers, as well as performing the duties of a Quality Engineer. 

What will my responsibilities include?

  • Performs daily supervision of Quality Engineers, including scheduling, training, mentoring, counseling, and completing performance reviews.
  • Acts as a technical focal for reading and interpreting aerospace quality requirements, including customer specifications and technical requirements.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of customer and industry quality standards (AS9100).
  • Prepares First Article Inspection Reports in accordance with AS9102 standards.
  • Accurately transfers GD&T (geometric dimensioning and tolerancing) symbols to First Article Inspection Report and interprets the requirements.
  • Reviews manufacturing plans created by Engineering and approves them based on compliance with customer specifications.
  • Analyzes rejection history and provides data to management.
  • Provides information and assistance to AMT Supply Base regarding quality issues, interpretation of customer specifications and AMT Quality requirements.
  • Manages audit process and performs the functions of Lead Auditor for both internal and supplier audits.  Performs audits as required.
  • Assigns, approves and manages AMT Corrective Action system for internal and supplier assigned corrective action.
  • Researches, documents, responds and manages customer-assigned Corrective Action requests and complaints.
  • Assists in updating and managing the QMS and ensures that AMT Quality System policies and procedures meet customer requirements and industry standards.
  • Researches, documents and responds to customer-assigned Corrective Action requests.
  • Provides information and assistance to AMT Manufacturing and Inspection personnel regarding quality issues, interpretation of customer specifications and Company procedures.
  • Follows all safety guidelines established by the Company, including proper use of safety equipment and relevant safety procedures.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Leadership: Trains, mentors, and assists less-experienced QA personnel and staff from other departments in skills, abilities and knowledge related to quality requirements. 
  • Supervision: Directs and manages staff to ensure that departmental goals are met.
  • Attention to detail: Recognizes and identifies deviations from requirements.
  • Independent judgement: Exercises a high degree of independent judgment, discretion, and authority concerning processes, procedures and personnel issues.
  • Communication: Effectively communicates verbally and in writing.
  • Customer focus: Anticipates internal and external customer needs, gives high priority to customer satisfaction and service.  Provides information and results accurately, courteously, in a timely manner.
  • Organization: Keeps working area neat and organized.  Arrives on time to work and works to meet deadlines efficiently. 
  • Teamwork: Collaborates and cooperates with other QA staff and all departments.  Knows when to ask for information and assistance, and assesses the long-term impact of decisions.  Demonstrates a willing, positive, and proactive attitude. 
  • Company policy awareness: Understands and complies with AMT company policies and guidelines as described in the Employee Handbook, the Employee Safety Manual and the Quality Management System.  Complies with rules and procedures of a drug-free workplace.

What qualifications should I have?

Preferred:

  • Minimum 10 years Quality Assurance/Inspection experience in the aerospace industry.
  • Ability to read, understand and interpret Engineering Drawings and specifications at an advanced level.
  • Fluent understanding of GD&T.
  • Proficiency in MS Office products.
  • Previous supervisory experience.
  • Documented internal audit experience.
  • Degree in Engineering or other relevant field.
  • Complete knowledge of AS9100 requirements.
