Who is Senior Aerospace Bird Bellows?
Based in Congleton, Cheshire, Senior Aerospace Bird Bellows was established in 1975 as a family run operation serving the petro-chemical and gas industries. Since then, we have evolved to become one of the industry leaders in the design, development and manufacture of pressure duct systems, flexible joints and insulation for highly regulated industries. We have established customers in aerospace (both civil and military), as well as in the nuclear, oil and gas, chemical and pharmaceutical sectors.
What does the job involve?
Core Activities:
- Preparation of technical proposals and cost estimates
- Concept development including management and oversight of development testing
- Preparation and presentation of design reviews, both internal and with the customer when required.
- Definition and management of qualification programmes where required, including drafting/checking of qualification plans, test procedures and test reports
- Validating 3D models and 2D drawings produced, meet the design requirements and obtaining customer approval where required.
- Validating tool designs, BOM’s and routings to ensure parts produced meet the design requirements.
- Establishing, owning and updating compliance matrices and verification and validation plans to ensure the product meets the original specification requirements.
- Liaising with customers to ensure deviations to specifications are accepted and agreed where required.
- Supporting the Project Manager by developing, driving and reporting the technical activities of the project plan
- Managing technical risks with the use of tools such as Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis.
Experience and knowledge
Essential
- Experience in the design and development of new /modified products in a highly regulated industry
- Experience in the design and development of metallic ducting systems/components or thin wall sheet metal products
- Experienced in leading product development and qualification test programmes
Desirable
- Experience of Developing products within the Aerospace industry
Qualifications and training
Essential
- Degree/HNC/HND in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering
Desirable
- Basic understanding of CAD systems (CAITA or Autodesk Inventor)
- New Product Introduction Process Principles (AS9745, APQP)
- Cost estimating
