What does the job involve?

Job Summary:

We are seeking a reliable and skilled Material Handler and Driver to join our team. This position involves efficiently handling materials within our facility and transporting goods between locations. The ideal candidate will have experience in both material handling and driving, ensuring the safe and timely delivery of materials and products.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Under general supervision, must be able to perform a variety of job duties including, but not limited to:

  • Receive, inspect, and store incoming materials and products.
  • Organize and maintain inventory levels.
  • Prepare and package materials for shipment or storage.
  • Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other warehouse equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with safety guidelines and procedures.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of warehouse area
  • Safely operate company vehicles to transport materials and products.
  • Deliver goods to designated locations following routes and schedules.
  • Load and unload materials from the vehicle using appropriate equipment.
  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.
  • Ensure goods are delivered on time and in good condition.
  • Adhere to traffic laws and maintain a clean driving record.
  • Report any issues or concerns regarding materials, equipment, or deliveries promptly.

 

Requirements:

 

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Proven experience as a material handler and driver preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to operate warehouse equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to lift heavy objects and work in a physically demanding environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Basic computer skills for documentation and inventory management.

 

Physical Requirements:

Lifting and Carrying: Ability to lift and carry heavy objects, typically up to 50 pounds or more. This may include loading and unloading materials from trucks, moving pallets, and handling bulky items.

Standing and Walking: Extended periods of standing and walking within the warehouse and loading/unloading areas.

Driving: Ability to sit for long periods and operate a vehicle, including the physical demands of driving such as turning, reaching, and operating vehicle controls.

Physical Agility: Maneuvering and operating warehouse equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks. This requires physical coordination, balance, and dexterity.

Bending and Stooping: Occasionally required to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl to access materials or equipment in the warehouse.

Physical Endurance: Ability to work in a physically demanding environment, often exposed to varying temperatures, noise levels, and sometimes dusty or hazardous materials.

Safety Awareness: Adherence to safety protocols and practices to minimize the risk of injury while handling materials, operating equipment, and driving.
