Senior Aerospace Spencer is an engineer-driven organization focused on high-pressure hydraulic fluid fittings for use in commercial and military aerospace applications. What does the job involve?

Job Summary:

The Deburr Technician will be responsible for deburring machined parts coming out of the mill and lathes machines. He/she will ensure that all components are cleaned and prepared for the remaining assembly and packing processes. He/she will deburr parts using hand and various deburring equipment including abrasive wheels to smooth and/or remove defects to polish products to meet required specifications of machined components.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Under general supervision, must be able to perform a variety of job duties including, but not limited to:

  • Grind, file, or sand surfaces of metal items, utilizing a variety of hand tools, power tools, and machines.
  • Examine surfaces in order to find defects.
  • Remove defects and smooth uneven surfaces.
  • Clean and organize work area.
  • Adjust and troubleshoot machine as needed.
  • Follow all Senior policies and procedure.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Requirements:

  • High School Degree or General Education Degree (preferred)
  • MUST be willing to work overtime and extended hours as needed to meet specific deadlines.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos.
  • Ability to apply a general understanding to carry out detailed, written and oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with and solve problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Must exercise good judgment and initiative where appropriate with the ability to maintain confidentiality at all times.
  • Must have high attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with others.

Physical Requirements:

Manual Dexterity: The ability to handle small tools and parts with precision and accuracy is crucial. This involves tasks such as filing, sanding, polishing, and smoothing edges on metal or plastic components.

Strength and Endurance: Some deburring tasks may require moderate strength and endurance, especially when working with heavier materials or during extended periods of manual labor.

Visual Acuity: Good eyesight is important for inspecting finished parts for imperfections and ensuring they meet quality standards.

Fine Motor Skills: Precise hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills are essential for manipulating tools and parts delicately.

Safety Awareness: Awareness of safety protocols and practices is necessary to prevent injuries, as deburring tasks often involve working with sharp tools and potentially hazardous materials.

Ability to Stand or Sit for Extended Periods: Depending on the setup and nature of the work environment, deburr technicians may need to stand or sit for prolonged periods while performing their tasks.
