Who is Senior Aerospace Weston?

Senior Aerospace Weston, located in Lancashire, England, is a leading supplier of a wide range of complex precision machined components, and sub- assemblies for original equipment manufacturers (OEMs’) predominantly in the commercial aviation market sector. Our experience and core capabilities support multiple segments of an aircraft’s build, including the manufacture of engine compressor and fan components, engine pylon mounting brackets, pintles, wing ribs and associated aero-structure components. We aim to support our customers with a complete solution, including supply chain management and delivery of line-side kits where appropriate.

The Job

Reporting to the Quality Manager and working closely with the business’s operations and engineering team the Quality Engineer main function is to support the business in areas of product conformance, including internal and external non-conformance

Key Accountabilities

 Rolls-Royce Process Min Standards: The key deliverable for this role will be completion of a project to achieve good practice across a wide variety of manufacturing processes. Scoring the business’ process against customer expectations, you will drive change and collate evidence to achieve the required scoring criteria.

Internal Audit: Audit process and system within the manufacturing environment to ensure the minimum standards of good practice are in place.

External Stakeholders: Liaise with customer to present evidence of compliance and negotiate agreement in areas of ambiguity. 

Customer support: Deliver the project to a satisfactory  conclusion liaising directly with customer contact.

Associated Responsibilities:

  • Promote workspace organisation in accordance with Lean 5S principles and generally help to maintain a high standard of housekeeping throughout the factory.
  • Maintain a high standard of health and safety based upon safe working practices.
  • Ensure that all work activities and records comply with Company Policies, Procedures, and Codes of Practice.

Professional Requirements and Experience

  •  Time Served or Degree Educated in a relevant field or with relevant industrial experience
  • Experience working within an AS9100 environment with be advantageous
  • Experience working with Tier 1 or Prime customers

 Quality Engineering skills

  • Interpretation of Engineering Drawings, specifications and standards
  • Creation of internal standards, SOP, methods and procedures management
  • Internal auditor experience

Personal Competencies

  • Should be confident and competent
  • Have the ability to work on own initiative, with willingness to take ownership of tasks and projects
  • Have the ability to liaise and negotiate with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Have excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to self-motivate and to achieve set goals.
