Who is Senior Aerospace Weston?
Senior Aerospace Weston, located in Lancashire, England, is a leading supplier of a wide range of complex precision machined components, and sub- assemblies for original equipment manufacturers (OEMs’) predominantly in the commercial aviation market sector. Our experience and core capabilities support multiple segments of an aircraft’s build, including the manufacture of engine compressor and fan components, engine pylon mounting brackets, pintles, wing ribs and associated aero-structure components. We aim to support our customers with a complete solution, including supply chain management and delivery of line-side kits where appropriate.
Purpose: The Quality Engineer main function is to support the business in areas of product conformance; including internal and external/supplier non-conformance.
Scope: This role reports directly to the Quality Manager working closely with the business’s operations and engineering teams.
Job Role
Business Unit: This role will primarily be to support the Aerofoils business. Flexibility may be required in the future.
Internal MRB: Investigation & sentencing of internal MRB issues. Lead RCCA activity using industry standard tools.
Data Analysis: Data collection, analysis and presentation. Drive the reduction of non-conformance.
Reporting: Report weekly on Quality KPI’s for functional programme areas, ensuring clear communication of performance and trends.
Customer & Supplier Management: Deal with representatives on quality concerns, including investigations on non-conformance and recommending corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence.
New Product Introduction: Actively support the programme and engineering teams on NPI programs relative to the QE’s customer focus. Through the PPAP process and all MSA and FMEA activities to ensure final part conformance is adequately monitored and managed, and reflects customer engineering definition.
Quality Management System: Ensure through regular communication and audit the requirements in the quality management system are communicated and complied with. They play an integral role in ensuring process and procedures are complied with.
Internal Audit: Audit process and system within the manufacturing environment to ensure control and process adherence.
External Audit: Support external audits and auditor management.
Person Specification
Professional Requirements and Experience
- Time Served Engineer or with demonstrated practical experience in a relevant industry
- Experience of working within an AS9100 environment is advantageous, but not mandatory.
- Relevant experience working within a Customer specific environment – Airbus/Rolls-Royce etc.
Quality Tools Requirement
The Quality Engineer must have hands on experience and expertise using, managing and promoting the following quality tools.
- 8D RCCA
- APQP & PPAP
- MSA
- pFMEA
- SPC
Quality Engineering Skills
- Interpretation of Engineering Definitions
- Creation of internal standards, SOP, methods and procedures management
- Coordination and delivery of RCCA after supplier, internal and external conformance issues
- Coordination and delivery of process improvement
- Coordination and delivery of non-conformance reduction
Personal Competencies
- Should be confident and competent
- Have the ability to work on own initiative, with willingness to take full ownership of tasks & projects
- Have excellent communication skills
- Ability to motivate and lead a team to achieve set goals
