We are currently seeking a full-time Hand Finisher II for the 2nd shift (3:00pm – 11:30pm), Monday - Friday, at our Jet Products facility located in Kearny Mesa.
What does the job involve?
The Hand Finisher II is responsible for the set up and operation of various hand tools to trim, blend, deburr, and finish manufactured objects, materials, or parts in an aerospace manufacturing environment. Ensures final products meet blueprint specifications and/or required tolerances.
What will my responsibilities include?
- Sets up and operates hand tools to specified tolerances. Trims, blends, deburrs, and finishes manufactured objects, materials, or parts.
- Loads and adjusts product onto equipment or worktable.
- Utilizes abrasive materials, air tools, and/or hand tools. Blends specified area to create smooth appearance.
- Washes, cleans, and/or polishes product to remove remaining grindings, dust, oil, and coolant.
- Inspects their own quality of work performed. Notifies appropriate personnel when existing non-conformities are discovered in work received from prior functions. Identifies errors in documentation as well as quality-related characteristics of the manufactured product.
- Observes and inspects product to ensure blueprint specifications and tolerances are met.
- Assists in maintaining deburring equipment.
- Demonstrates ability to appear for work on time, works overtime when necessary, follows directions from a supervisor, interacts well with co-workers, understands and follows work rules and procedures, works safely, complies with corporate policies, goals and objectives, accepts constructive feedback, establishes goals and objectives and exhibits initiative and commitment.
What key skills and experience do I need?
- Ability to read blueprints, drawings, or templates.
- Ability to understand process sketches, drawings, and appropriate selection of abrasives to ensure design intent is achieved.
- Knowledge of machines and hand tools.
- Ability to use micrometers, calipers, gauges.
- Ability to grasp and manipulate objects and control machines and processes.
What qualifications should I have?
Education:
- High school diploma/GED preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Vocational training is a plus.
Experience:
- 3 years of related experience in a manufacturing environment.
