Head of Manufacturing - What does the job involve?

Overall responsibility to manage and take ownership for the Operations team and to meet the sales and delivery objectives. To provide hands-on process development, leadership and support.  Facilitate effective problem solving and root cause analysis as required and responsible for all daily, weekly and monthly production activities

Hours of work: 37.5 hours per week.

Core shift - Monday to Thursday 08:00 to 16:15 and Friday 08:00 to 15:00 with 30-minute break for lunch

Head of Manufacturing - What will my responsibilities include?’

  • Set strategic plan for Operations to deliver on business objectives
  • Generate and execute the sales forecast based on the available orderbook
  • Responsible for driving improvements to productivity levels within the business
  • Meet and exceed all established performance goals as dictated by the company and the customer
  • Overall responsibility for operational cost, quality and on-time delivery of products
  • Provide a safe working environment by providing a facility, tools and equipment that comply with legal and company requirements
  • Ensure safe working practices are communicated and adhered to
  • Introduction of best practice techniques as appropriate
  • Support projects and production programs in support of plant objectives, as well as managing improvement efforts using tools such as lean and six sigma.
  • Provide direction in the development, maintenance and improvement processes to meet the needs of all stakeholders
  • Drive a continuous improvement culture, management excellence and high ethical standards
  • Management of CI, planning and maintenance teams
  • Responsible for ensuring recruitment requirements are identified and a structured training process is available for new starters

Head of Manufacturing - What key skills and experience do I need?

  • Ideally experience working in aerospace manufacturing
  • Demonstrate a knowledge and understanding of a broad range of supply chain and manufacturing processes.
  • Demonstrate decisive leadership skills with proven managerial experience including people management, development and mentoring skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ideally mechanical, industrial or electrical degree or a time serviced with HNC or equivalent experience
  • Demonstrable level of knowledge of implementing lean manufacturing and achievement on continuous improvement and other areas related to raising levels or performance and reducing costs.
  • A hands-on approach.
