Senior Aerospace Spencer is an engineer-driven organization focused on high-pressure hydraulic fluid fittings for use in commercial and military aerospace applications. What does the job involve?

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Quality Inspector, preferably with aerospace industry experience, to join our team. The Quality Inspector will be responsible for ensuring that all products meet or exceed the established quality standards. This role involves detailed inspections, verifying conformance to specifications, and maintaining thorough records of quality control activities. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in quality assurance, with specific experience in AS9100, first article inspections, and familiarity with aerospace manufacturing processes.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Under general supervision of the Quality Manager, the successful candidate must be able to perform a variety of job duties including, but not limited to:

  • Perform inspections on materials, components, and finished products to ensure they meet quality standards and customer specifications.
  • Conduct First Article Inspections (FAI) and document results according to AS9102 requirements.
  • Interpret and read engineering drawings, specifications, and work instructions to ensure compliance with product requirements.
  • Use precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and other inspection tools.
  • Identify and document non-conforming parts or products, ensuring corrective actions are taken as needed.
  • Collaborate with production and engineering teams to troubleshoot and resolve quality issues.
  • Support AS9100 audits by maintaining accurate records and documentation of inspection activities.
  • Ensure that all quality procedures and standards are followed throughout the production process.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace, adhering to all safety standards and protocols.
  • Assist in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality and operational efficiency.

 Education:

High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical certifications in quality control or related fields are a plus.

  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in quality inspection, preferably in the aerospace industry.

 Requirements/Skills:

  • Familiarity with AS9100 and other aerospace quality standards.
  • Proficient in using precision measuring instruments and inspection tools.
  • Strong understanding of engineering drawings and technical specifications.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to identify defects and non-conformities.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand or walk for extended periods, often in manufacturing or warehouse environments.
  • Regularly required to use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls.
  • Must be able to lift and move objects up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to bend, squat, and reach to perform inspections.
  • Good vision (corrected or uncorrected) to detect small defects and read measuring instruments accurately.
  • Ability to work in an environment with moderate noise and fluctuating temperatures.
