What Does the Job Involve?

The Jr. Manufacturing Engineer works to improve manufacturing systems through new tool designs and process updates. Works closely with Manufacturing Engineers to develop process improvements to increase productivity and reduce non-conformances. Conducts tool design and documentation. Coordinates with Manufacturing engineers, quality engineers and shop floor personnel to understand company operations.

What will my responsibilities include?

  • Aids in design of manufacturing tools and machining fixtures.
  • Conducts analysis of current manufacturing operations and processing of data.
  • Participates in the review of improvement operations and interfaces with shop floor personnel to identify root causes.
  • Aids in new product introduction activities through tool design and creation of manufacturing planning documentation.
  • Acts as a liaison with the shop floor to gather data and aid with quality improvement opportunity (QIO) implementation.
  • Partners with Manufacturing Engineers, CNC Programmers and management for guidance and discussion of current operation and future state goals.
  • Communicates current status of projects and needs to various departments.
  • Assists Manufacturing Engineers, quality, tooling and operations personnel in understanding issues affecting the company.
  • Participates in continuous improvement initiatives and Kaizen events as a team member.
  • Provides support of continuous improvement activities and new product introduction.

What Key Skills and Experience Do I Need?

  • Intermediate skills with a personal computer.
  • Fluency in SolidWorks and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Understanding of basic machining operations and machine types.
  • Familiar with metal forming operations performed.
  • Knowledge of welding.

What Qualifications Should I Have?

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from an accredited college preferred or equivalent experience.
  • Engineering related internship, preferred. Familiarity with machining, assembly, and quality processes.
