Who is Senior Bird Bellows?

Based in Congleton, Cheshire, Senior Bird Bellows was established in 1975 as a family run operation serving the petro-chemical and gas industries. Since then, we have evolved to become one of the industry leaders in the design, development and manufacture of pressure duct systems, flexible joints and insulation for highly regulated industries. We have established customers in aerospace (both civil and military), as well as in the nuclear, oil and gas, chemical and pharmaceutical sectors.

What responsibilities does a Strategic Programme Buyer have?

  • Responsible for the creation, updating and presentation of Procurement slides / actions to the Procurement Manager and Programme / Project site reviews (Business review).
  • Responsible for the Programme Supplier Sourcing in line with development Strategy.
  • Responsible for the Supplier Selection RFQ’s.
  • Responsible for Programme Supplier Negotiation, including price, general Terms and Conditions both customer flow-down and SABB.
  • Support Programme Supplier Transfers.
  • Responsible for initiating, implementing, and negotiating parts onto supplier consignment/VMI.
  • Responsible for Programme Procurement Change Control, and where applicable Export Control and ITAR.
  • Responsible for the delivery / maintenance / Integrity of Programme BOM to Cost / Budget / while ensuring Item / Contract Item Data is updated and maintained.
  • Responsible for the flow down of Programme Enabled Customer materials, pricing and skyline forecasts to Suppliers, to include but not limited to Conbid.
  • Responsible for new work bid activity, Work Transfers, New Product Introduction (NPI).
  • Responsible for devising / investigating Programme Cost Reduction opportunities / activities linked to site cost reduction targets.
  • Responsible for Managing Programme Supplier risk (Use and awareness of Dunn & Bradstreet for financials).
  • Responsible for the resolution of Invoice queries.
  • Be the Escalation point for any Programme cost / contractual issues with Suppliers.
  • Be required to travel to, and work at, other company premises on the UK mainland and abroad.
  • Be the escalation point for supplier conflict resolution.

A Strategic Programme Buyer will need a blend of procurement expertise, strategic thinking, relationship management skills and a Continuous Improvement mindset.
