XYZ Turner - What does the job involve?
Ensuring the best manufacturing techniques are carried out within the Machine Shop by practical application of the most appropriate methods of programming, setting and operation of the machine tools and to stimulate an atmosphere of continuous improvement.
Hours of work: 39 hours per week.
Dayshift - Monday to Thursday 6.45am to 3.30pm and Friday 7.00am to 1.00pm with 30-minute unpaid break for lunch
XYZ Turner - What will my responsibilities include?’
- Turning, setting, and operating as required, all machines within the cell
- Monitoring the process during manufacture to ensure total process control is maintained
- Ensuring an energetic pursuit of improved methods.
- Will train on new technology as required by the department, for example XYZ lathes and CMM equipment
- Ensures that the required Quality standards are achieved by strict adherence to the relevant company procedures
- To manufacture medium to complex parts to required drawing customer specification
- Be able to inspect / measure own work
- Ensuring that high standards of safety and housekeeping are maintained within the manufacturing area
- Ensuring that preventative maintenance schedules are strictly carried out
- Ensuring that information relating to the manufacturing process is accurately recorded, maintained and updated to reflect current practice
- Willing to train others and be a good team player
- Ensure activities are conducted in line with safety, quality and environmental systems.
XYZ Turner - What key skills and experience do I need?
- Must have the right to live and work in the UK (Essential)
- A Minimum of 3 years’ experience working within a high precision manufacturing environment
- Wide ranging manufacturing process knowledge, across differing materials in varying applications.
- Experience of working to engineering drawings or work instructions i.e., Job Cards
- Experience and ability to program, set and operate different machine tools
- Knowledge of how-to machine, handle and protect all types of manufactured components
- Ability to interpret technical drawings with a high-level understanding of geometric dimensions & tolerances
- XYZ Proto Track Programming experience (Desirable)
- Experience and ability to program, set and operate different machine tools. (Desirable)
- Tool Maker experience in conventional milling and turning (Desirable)
XYZ Turner - What qualifications should I have?
- Completed a recognised apprenticeship in mechanical engineering.
- Basic Skills in Microsoft office software applications
- Security Clearance (Desirable)
