Based in Congleton, Cheshire, Senior Bird Bellows was established in 1975 as a family run operation serving the petro-chemical and gas industries. Since then, we have evolved to become one of the industry leaders in the design, development and manufacture of pressure duct systems, flexible joints and insulation for highly regulated industries. We have established customers in aerospace (both civil and military), as well as in the nuclear, oil and gas, chemical and pharmaceutical sectors.

What does the job involve?

To be able to install, maintain plant and equipment to a competent recognised standard, eliminating risk wherever possible, to the health and safety of all those it may affect and supporting the business needs.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  1. Carry out routine electrical maintenance and servicing to facilities, plant, machinery and equipment in accordance with agreed schedules.
  2. Service machinery and attend to breakdown issues in the shortest possible timescale in order to minimise non-productive down time.
  3. Install new electrical services for machinery and to assist in other associated supply services as required, ensuring that equipment manufacturer’s installation, operation & maintenance instructions, standards and most recent regulations are followed.
  4. Be available to assist with any out of normal working hours breakdown situations (or scheduled repairs) which the company may reasonably request.
  5. Liaise with the Production Team Leaders as necessary to agree mutually acceptable time periods in which to schedule maintenance work, with least disruption to production activity.
  6. Communicate with the production Team leaders on installations that may affect them and local operators to ensure agreement is decided for the best solution.
  7. Assist in the purchase of consumable and equipment to meet on-going requirements of the Maintenance Department.
  8. Assist in troubleshooting and rectification of production machinery, electrical panels and equipment problems, with a view to implementing preventive maintenance solutions.
  9. Demonstrate a safety conscious attitude when performing designated tasks, always working in accordance with relevant Safe Systems of Work Instructions and within the guidelines of the Permit to Work System.
  10. Utilise tools and machinery in safe manner and in accordance with all safety instructions and previous training provided.

Experience & Knowledge:

  • Minimum 4 year's electrical experience
  • Experience of ordering and receiving collecting materials and liaising with suppliers.

Qualifications & Training:

  • Electrical Apprenticeship (time served)
  • Working knowledge of 17th/18th Edition IEE Regulations.

Skills & Abilities:

  • Calibration of assets
  • Ability to design installations
  • Ability to read engineering drawings and circuit diagrams
  • Ability to work on own initiative.
  • Able to test and inspect to IEE Regulations
