SUMMARY
The Senior Buyer is responsible for securing quotations for new product design, managing direct material supplier relationships, development and securing of new suppliers, managing existing supplier relationships, and support of the sourcing strategy of the company. Senior Buyer will report directly to the purchasing manager. They will utilize sourcing strategy, negotiation, organizational and communication skills, to deliver on the expectations of program teams, working with design engineering, program management, junior buyers, and other business resources.
KEY RESULT AREAS
- Direct Material Sourcing
- Perform sourcing activities as they relate to newly awarded business, proposective business and/or existing business.
- Manage the development of a strong supply base through competitive sourcing strategy.
- Coordinate updates which provide status of deliverables to the program and operations' teams
- Organizational Skills
- Retain ownership and organization of direct material suppliers and other deliverables as they relate to the supply base.
- Work directly with operations, program managers, and other engineering personnel.
- Communicate updates accordingly with team members.
- Consistently maintain quoting logs, and report on expectations as they relate to due dates.
- Teamwork
- Develop relationships with internal colleagues and external supply base, to ensure business continuity of material delivery.
- Participate in program meetings and provide information critical to the success of launch and/or securing of new business.
- Supply Chain Alignment
- Work in conjunction with the Purchasing Manager to develop a robust strategy to competitively align supply base objectives with company's objectives.
- Sourcing Experience
- Utilize experience in negotiation, contracts, agreements, NDA's, and other basic purchasing tools to improve the business.
- Establish best practices, improve existing policies and procedures.
- Develop jr buyers and support purchasing manager's objectives.
EDUCATION
- Bachelor’s degree preferred. Business, operations, management, or equivalent.
EXPERIENCE
- 3 years plus of experience (direct material sourcing preferred).

WORKING CONDITIONS
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. Some kneeling or reaching may be required.
- Schedule: Standard business hours, with occasional after-hours or weekend work for maintenance or emergency response.
Base Salary $60,000 - $95,000
Salary ranges are determined by role and level, and within the range individual pay is determined by additional factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
